She was pondering over the idea of a vacation, from being away from her crazy family and life. Looking out the carriage window as rain rushed past her view, she knew that she was going somewhere far from home, and far from civilisation of any kind. As she looked out over the green grass, flooded feilds and mountain sides, a feeling of peace overwhelmed her. She felt calm in an uncertain place. She felt as though she were floating in another dimension- one that resembled her new temporary home, one filled with uncertainty and blindness. And she liked it.
Macy saw her worries leave her mind, to be brought into a place filled with white lights and peace.
The sound of the carriage door opening was followed by the smell of aftershave. Macy did not look to see who the man was who had entered the carriage, she did not wish for any conversation or exchanges of understanding between herself and any other individual, she wanted to be off in a world where the outside just drifts by.
A grunt, which accompanied the heavy sound of a suitcase being lifted into an overhead compartment was followed by the words "Hello".
Great, all Macy wanted was a silent journey filled with thoughts and sleep. She did not want conversation, especially not with the male species. She did not feel like being judged today. She didn't feel like being judged on her life story, where she was going, who she was and especially not on her behaviour and image.
She decided to not reply to the stranger nor look at him to acknowledge his presence. She hoped and prayed he would get the hint.
"My name's James, James Grace. I'm pleased to meet you."
What?! So she didn't acknowledge him at all, but yet he still continues?! Macy thought for a moment on what to do. She really didn't want to have to be bothered about the whole 'being judged by a stranger' thing and she definitely didn't want to make the effort to think about subjects of interest or conversation.
She made up her mind.
"Hi" she said very quietly and quickly. "Nice to meet you too... James Grace."
She made a small smile as she thought about how she had made the decision to annoy him after his annoying her upon her entering her peaceful place. So she decided to take the path of being mischievous and not introducing herself, and took it upon herself to call him by his whole name.
He caught her smile, but didn't understand why she was smirking like she was, so he imagined himself shrugging his shoulders to the thought and proceeded to sit down on the black leather seat which sat opposite her.
Macy looked at the stranger sitting opposite her, and just as she thought she would be dragged back to reality. She was pushed into a whole other dimension, where all things froze around her, nothing else existed. All she could see was him. Him with his brown shaggy hair, blue-green wide eyes, tanned skin, and a bright white smile that would make a girl's heart melt.
This was a new feeling for Macy, never had such a thing happened to her before.
She hung out with the guys in school mostly, she found that being around girls was too much drama, and that since boys don't huff over something for a long period of time it was easier to enjoy time in school and outside of school. If you fell out, you forgot about it, made up and moved on. Whereas with a group of girls, you fall out and you argue about it for weeks on end. The whole situation is over exaggerated by everyone involved and it becomes a mess.
Macy had hung out with the most unpopular guys at the start of school, but as all people know it- the guys that are the ugliest when children always become the hottest and most good looking when older. This meant that by the end of school, Macy was close friends with all the guys the girls threw themselves at, and it provided her with satisfaction and so something to laugh at as she watched her friends get bombarded with desperate girls, hear all the conversations and hear about some of the most funniest, over exaggerated moments that some of the guys experienced when out with the popular girls in the school. It gave her a sense of being at ease because although she was alone in class, she was never alone any other time.
