So here it begins

The arrow, drawn taunt in the bow, was aimed directly at my heart. A little disconcerting, but not the biggest threat to my life at the moment. The Kryptonian, who conveniently had heat vision and freezing breath, had his hands wrapped around my throat. As Superman's grip kept tightening ever so slightly, I was beginning to panic at the decrease of oxygen being supplied to my brilliant brain.

So maybe walking into the Justice Hall shouting "I'm home!" wasn't the brightest idea, but honestly, how else does one tell Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, one of the scientist at C.A.D.M.U.S. thought it would be a brilliant idea to make an offspring from their stolen DNA?

"I will only ask once more. WHO. ARE. YOU?" Superman snarled.

I wiggled my neck to each side, hoping to find some slack in his grip. My fingers clawed frantically at his hand. Nothing worked. I couldn't get any air to answer him. Batman took a step closer, "Superman, relax your grip so she can speak."

"Thanks dad." I chuckled nervously as soon as Superman loosened his grip. The look Batman sent me was nothing short of contempt and disgust. I decided not to push my luck and rushed out with an explanation. "So funny story. You and Superman, really are my dads and Wonder Woman is my mom. C.A.D.M.U.S. stole your DNA through your many fights and genetically created me in a test tube. Their grand scheme was to brain wash me into hating you guys and send me in as a super, secret double agent." Superman's hand began to tighten again, so I hurried continued. "But, I swear, I'm not a super, secret double agent or anything. I ran away from my guardians. I even ripped out both of the GPS transponders they had implanted on me. My guardians didn't know that I knew about both transponders, but hello, I could feel the foreign material. I just didn't know where else to go, but here cause, ya know, you're my dads. Plus, you can just use mom's lasso of truth and justice to make me tell the truth, if you don't believe me."

Superman and Batman looked at each other, neither giving away what they were thinking. Green Arrow sighed and lowered his bow. The Flash was nonchalantly leaning against the wall to my right and Aquaman was perched upright with his trident off to my left. If I wasn't seriously afraid of Superman ripping me limb from limb, I would be having a huge fangirl moment.

"Release her, Superman," came the icy command from Batman.

Superman remained still for a moment before he released his grip on my neck. I immediately dropped to the floor like a bag of bricks. Not willing to test my luck, I stayed on the ground but stared at the Batman. He crouched down to my level, his black cape spreading out across the floor. His eyes held no warmth, no emotion. Being on the floor held a great number of disadvantages, but considering my options, I didn't want to do anything to trigger the man of steel into choking me again.

Batman reached a hand out towards me. I instantly tensed, ready for him to strike me. The only reaction Batman had to my body movement was a narrowing of his eyes. His hand grabbed my chin and forced me to look at him.

"Little girl," Batman's low growl rasped across my skin. "If you are lying to us, in any small detail, it will not be pleasant for you. This is your last chance to tell us the truth."

Unwanted, my eyes began to burn with the effort to not cry. The tears I refused to allow, hovered on the edge of my eyelids. One wrong blink would send them over the edge and down my cheeks. I fervently wished them away. I hadn't once allowed myself to cry when I was growing up and I would not begin my first chance at freedom with a crying gig.

"I swear, I'm telling you the truth as I know it." I whispered. I swallowed harshly. It suddenly felt as though a rock had gotten stuck in my throat.
