I let the girl inside and saw her limping to the couch. I don't know her. Dad always told me not to let strangers in, but this girl was different. I don't know. I having a feeling she is no harm and she looks the same age as me. It would be nice to have a friend."I was wondering if I could get some water or maybe a first aid kit if you have one." She said from sitting on the sofa.
"First-Aid?" I asked with a small voice. I hate being so stupid and unaware.
She gave me a small smile and said, "It's a kit with stuff like an alcohol swab, bandages. It's basically used when someone gets hurt."
"I don't think I have a first aid kit. Sorry." I said again.
She looked at her wound which was wrapped around with a red handkerchief. "It's okay," she said with a smile, "Water, cotton and bandage will do."
I nodded and made my way to our small kitchen. I filled water into a bowl and got out bandage and cotton from the bathroom. I went up to her and handed over the stuff.
She took it and dabbed her wound with the wet cotton. She cleaned her would and wrapped the bandage around it. "Can you show me where to throw this?" She asked while pointing to the water and bloody cotton ball.
I took her out back and asked her to throw it there. She came back inside and Thanked me again.
While she was about to limp her way out of the door, I don't know why or how I had the courage to say, "Stay." I have never had people over. And she is just so different.
She looked at me weirdly and then smiled. She came over and sat down on the couch.
"So," she began to speak, "you look the same age as me. Do you go to Hawkins High?"
Me: "No"
Her: "Oh. So, what do you do all day?"
Me: "I walk around the house and watch TV. Or I just clean the house."
Her: "Do you live here alone?"
Me: "My Dad lives with me."
Her: "He sure must love trees" she said while chuckling.
Me: "Hmm, yeah"
Her: "Oh my. Where are my manners? I always forget to introduce myself. I'm Kylie Hill. I just moved into Hawkins. What's your name?"
Me: "El-Jane" Remember kid, if anyone asks you for your name, is Jane.
Her: "El-Jane, that's an interesting name."
Me: "It's just Jane."We were sitting in silence for a while when Dad walked through the door and saw us. "Hey, aren't you Beverly's daughter?" He asked her. "Chief Hopper! I didn't know you had a daughter or loved trees so much." She chuckled.
"Well, there are a lot of things you don't know about me." He smiled back.
"Hey kid, go and get me a glass of water." He said turning my way. So I got up and went into the kitchen.
But, I could still hear them.
"So, Kylie right?" Dad asked her.
"Yes, Kylie." "What happened to you knee?" He asked her."I fell off my bike." Kylie said to him.
"Oh, so that was your bike in the forest. I got it back in my truck, take it a later on. Do you go to Hawkins High?" He asked.
"I actually did! I don't know if you know them but I made friends with a guy named Will, Lucas, Dustin, Max. Ooh and Mike."
Mike. She knows Mike. Is she a threat to me? No, she doesn't look like she will steel Mike away from me. She looks, different.
I walk over to my Dad and hand him the glass of water. He nods at me and drinks the water.
"So, Chief I have to go. My mother is probably worried about me." She said to me.
"How about I leave you home? You probably can't ride home that way." Dad said to her.
"It's alright. I don't want to trouble you. Jane here already helped me enough. Thank you." Kylie told him with a genuine voice. "Think of it as my duty. Okay? It's no problem." Dad said while getting up from his seat.
"Kid, I'll be back. Careful." I nodded at him.
"Bye Jane! Nice meeting you!" Kylie said waving at me. I waved back and smiled at her.
That girl.

We were driving home and I was sitting in the front with the Chief."So, are you good at academics?" He asked me. Not to blow my own bugle, but I think I'm pretty good. I'm a straight A student and love mathematics so much that I could see a potential future of us together.
"I think I'm okay. I'm a straight A student and love math." I say trying to sound as modest as I can.
"Well, that's good. I was wondering if you could tutor El-Jane for like two hours everyday. She doesn't go to school and is really lacking behind. Don't worry, I'll pay you." He said.
Wow, me? A tutor? Honestly I liked Jane a lot. She was pretty sweet and innocent. For some reason she seemed different. I don't mind tutoring her and that means that I can spend much more time with my new friend.
"That sounds like a nice offer. I'm gonna charge $10 a month. If that's fine with you." I say looking at him.
"Deal." He says in a gruff voice.
We finally reach home and we step out of his truck. He goes in the back and gives me my bike. I thank him and he leaves. I walk up into my door and find my mother sitting on the staircase with an angry face. Shit.
"Where were you young lady? And who was that man? And KYLIE! What happened to your knee?" She exclaims while walking over to me.
I tell her everything wound and everything and the next moment I see her dragging me out of the door into the car.
"Mom? Where are we going?" I say looking at her scared.
"To the ER!" She says.
