¨Mommy!¨Mommy can we go to Jump Zone? My five year old self asked, jumpy with excitement. My mom looked down at me with warm eyes.
"I'm so sorry my dear, I would love to take you to jump zone but it's raining outside."
"Please? Pretty please with lots of sugar on top?¨ I begged her, grabbing the hem of her shirt and bouncing up and down on the balls of my feet. Suddenly dad came out of the kitchen.
"Daddy said I have to ask you first!¨ I exclaimed. looking up at her. They both exchanged funny glances and then looked down at me.
¨Okay Winter.¨ Mom sighed, finally giving in.
I giggled as I ran to dad and hugged his legs. He chuckled as he patted me on the head. ¨Winter go and get your rain slicker and umbrella.¨ mom said. I nodded, running to my closet.
I pulled up a step stool and stood on my tippytoes, trying to reach for my pink rain slicker. I grabbed my rain slicker and my unicorn umbrella and buttoned it up. I ran to dad, showing him that I'm all ready. He reached down and picked me up as we all headed to the car.
I was put in my car seat as dad drove off. It was starting to get darker outside as the rain pounded against the car. Dad put on the windshield wipers. Suddenly I was jolted sideways and felt something sharp hit my face as the screeching of tires were heard along with shattering glass and gasps from my mom. The last thing I see before things went black was my mom and dad slumped over in the front seats, covered in blood.
