Chapter One
I woke to a screaming alarm, and rolled out of my bed sluggishly. Oh, goody. The first day of junior year.
I slid on a floral skirt, a plain black top, sandals, and pulled my honey brown hair back semi-decently.
As I trudged down the stairs, I thought about the people in my class from last year, wondering what they all looked like now.
" I have very exciting news honey!" My mom called from the kitchen.
"Wh-what is it?" I asked, now walking quickly.
Once I got to the kitchen, my mom had her hands tied behind her back, grinning a wide smile.
"Catch."
She tossed keys to me. Car keys.
"Oh-oh my god thank you!" I cheered. My birthday was in 3 days, and this was by far the best present I could get.

I drove myself to school in my new Jeep, hoping to see heads turn.
Only one did.
Josh Madison's.
Damn.
He had always been cute, but this year he had gotten taller, tanner and more muscular.
"Hey, Willow" he greeted in a deeper voice than I remembered from last year.
" Hi"
" Who's home room did you end up in?"
"Mrs. Smiths"
"Oh, me too" he smiled, ending the conversation and walking to McKinley High. Too bad for me, because we didn't have home room on Wednesday's. Exactly what today was.I shoved my book pack in to my locker, and grabbed my Spanish binder for first period.
"WILLOW!"
My best friends Hannah, Emma, Avery and Evie screamed, throwing their arms around me.
"Oh my god, you're even prettier than last year!" Avery said, with a Shawn Mendes shirt, big blue eyes, and high top converse.
" Thanks." I blushed.
"Avery and Evie have math first period. Hanna and I have Spanish, what about you?" Emma asked, flipping her thick curly hair into a bun atop her pale face.
" Spanish"
I wonder what Josh has... stop! I don't want to have a crush on him!
But I didn't think that was how love worked, huh?
***
First, second, third and fourth period passed by, and lucky for me I had first and fourth with him.
And, more luck for me because I didn't have any of them with Grace. So far anyway.
Grace was apart of our friend group, but then marched her 5'2 self to the snobby girls, who Avery and I called the Plastics, like from Mean Girls.
She had fake blonde highlights, which she claimed were real, a chubby, cute face, and light blue eyes.
Anyhow , I ate and laughed with my friends at lunch. Onto fifth period history, with Mrs. White, who also taught math and was my favorite teacher.
"I am passing out the Study Guide, and I will partner you up!" She snapped in a snippy voice.
Nathan and Sara.
Ellen and Jack.
A bunch of other people, that aren't me... or you-know-him.
And then the worse...
Josh and Grace.
Crap.
"And then, last but not least, Steve and Willow."
Seriously? Steve?
Don't get me wrong, Steve is nice but honestly a little annoying and creepy... and wants a girlfriend desperately.
Steve and I finished the assignment 10 minutes early, and he would randomly ask questions like this:
"Do you think we could ever be more than just friends?" Like we are friends.
"Do wanna...like...date?" No.
On the outside, I just said I didn't want to date, smiled and did the best I could to not be a jerk.
Then I overheard something from Grace's desk:
"My boyfriend just broke up with me! What am I gonna do?!"
"I'm so sorry, that's horrible."
"I'm so glad I have such a good guy friend!"
Friend? What the hell?
I honestly had never seen them talk before. So their "friendship" must have happened all in this class. Grace very clearly likes him.
