The weight of a loss

Chapter 12

He hung up and turned to face Kate. She was looking at him with "the look".

- "WHO'S THAT GIRL?!" she asked again "And don't tell me it's nobody!!"

He was about to answer when Kate saw the paper he wrote this morning before living.

- "Where were you this morning?!" she asked getting more angry

- "Kate..." said Rick walking to her.

- "NO KATE! Tell me where you were!! You were with that girl right?!"

- "Yes but..."

- "But what?" she said cutting him "So what I'm not enough now? You have to date others women?"

- "NOO! I would never do that! Oh my God Kate!"

- "Yes that's all men say!"

- "Let me explain, please Kate!" he said begging her

- "Explain what? You cheat on me, there's nothing to explain!"

Tears were rolling on her cheek but she ignored that. She was so mad at him. How could he cheat on her after all they're going through? What's wrong with him?! She couldn't handle all the pain anymore. She run to the bathroom and locked the door.

Rick followed her but didn't made it in time. He tried to open the door but it was locked. He knocked on it.

- "Please Kate open the door."

- "Go to hell!" she said in tears

- "Come on, at least listen to me"

- "No, like I said go to hell. I thought you were the one, the love of my life. But you're just like any other man. You can't stay with a woman without cheating on her. That's why you bought me the roses huh? Because you regret it and you want me to forget you?! Well I will never forgive you. You can go with this Annabelle and married her and having kids with her. At least she won't lose your baby! I'm so glad we actually didn't get this kid. I hate you! Go to hell!"

That was too much for Rick. He took his keys and left the loft. How could she say all that things?! He was there for her, he barely went out because he knew she needed him and now what?! How can she think that he cheated on her?!

He walked and walked for at least an hour. He couldn't believe what just happened. He should have told her about the psychologist before. But how could she think he would cheat on her?! He was so mad at her, at what she said. Before he could notice it, he was in front of Esposito's building. He really needed to talk to someone. Plus he hadn't seen him in weeks.

He went upstairs and knocked on his door.

- "Coming!!" yelled Esposito. "Hey Castle, what's up?" he said while opening the door

- "Hi... I..."

Tears were rolling on Rick's cheeks.

- "Bro, what's going on? Come on in!" said Espo

He led him to the couch and sat next to him.

- "Castle, what's going on? Is Kate alright?" Espo asked a little worried

- "Yes. No. I don't know. My god Espo..."

- "Tell me everything!"

- "I don't know where to start."

- "Take your time, I have all day." Espo said putting his hand on Rick's shoulder

Rick buried his face in his hands and started to tell him what happened.
