A mangled body of a kitten
Lay splattered on an
Asphalt oblivious to passersby
Entrails floating out of
Its velvety skin carved out
By wheels unknown to
Its simple existence while
Trying simple to cross
The fathom of a road;
Despite the gore and
The comedy of horrors
Displayed on such canvass
A flash of enlightenment
Bolted out of the blue and
Spank my eyes on such
Lurid details and merciful
Talk about our dimwitted
Existence and brainless fancy
Of life after death, etc….
There were no funerals
Nor wailing litters trailing
Behind its contorted corpse
And there are surely no miters
Nor pewter cuddling his kind
Into believing that someday
They would meet again
Reunited as if nothing had
Happened to them in a
Room full of smoke where
Men morphed like doves all
Wearing white robes like
Drag queens that hasn’t seen
Yet the light of a breaking dusk
Nirvana comes through
The wayward blood painting
The backdrops of a shouting silence
Hooded by the eclipse of anger
And pain, and envy, and rest
Of a splattered lifeless being
On a site where equal footing
Never actually means equal
