THE PAST WOULD NEVER COMEBACK, but his heart had a way of pulsing out of control for faces and incidents of years left behind.
Familiar f a c e s of s o u l s that Kenny sacrificed to be the very best all would violently flash in his mind that tried so hard to focus on the future he wanted to improve. While the memories of years gone by brought him despair, he knew it be the torture he deserved for having wrecked such purity in his life.
What good was there in focusing on the future he saw himself saving in wild dreams if he was all alone?
There was a time in which he would revisit the past through dwelling, all for the sake of learning from his past's mistakes to live another day in a brand new tomorrow where he was an improved h u m a n being.
With time moving so rapidly, the lines of clarity blurred and Kenny didn't know when exactly it happened, but he just knew that his best habits were slowly replaced with secretly obsessing over his status.
He felt his control dwindling more and more everyday, and that was no paranoia on his part. Kenny was well-aware that his leadership of the Bullet Club was on the brim of spilling over to ... a better person than him?
No.
The blood loss, the exhaustion, the pain ... the hard work he put in were far too many sacrifices to not be the very best.
A greedier entity could be lurking to take what's his, perhaps? But more cunning? Kenny tried hard not to underestimate anyone so he'd always be steps ahead of everyone ; but his gut did turn when he stumbled backstage on his own because as his eyes confirmed it, the Bucks flashed ahead of him in laughter with none other than Cody.
Reality could never compete with imagination, and although Kenny closed his tired eyes as if to make it all seem like a hallucination cause by his exhaustion ; he could not shut out his fast beating heart to the things he didn't want to f e e l.
Specifically so, unrequited love. Having just walked away from a monumental achievement to his career that for all intents and purposes should have had him smiling with pride, instead brought the darkest hour of Kenny's life as his mind and heart dared bring about his tragic woe of unrequited love.
AUGUST 13, 2017 — that's where his mind went, and it had nothing to do his loss to Naito at the G1 Climax Tournament Finals. The date that rang up on his mind had everything to do with the unexpected reunion of his former partner, Kota Ibushi. His heart beat accelerated, remembering the way his hands had rested on his chest, on his heart.
