Ice Cold Fire

Sitting in the same spot for hours is one way of putting it however the way most would explain it is being locked, no chained up to prevent me from hurting anybody. God, I’m not a freak. When I was younger I thought being different was what I wanted, being unique in my own way would mean that  I was special. But needless to say, the cruel reality is that we are constantly judged for everything that we do. One small mistake and it’s over. People don’t like people. End of story.

 The truth is that I am going to change this one day. I am going to restore the humanity in people, once lost through inhumane bloodshed and war.

The last major war was brutal, not many people survived and those who had were forced to live in fear and agony. Many of the once known greatest countries were now ruled by fascist dictators who controlled every aspect of an individual’s life.

It must have been devastating for someone living a peaceful life to find out that what they knew was a complete lie and that they had been in a secret war for the past few months. No one knows how the war began and knows one knows how it ended. The only information that the public has is unknown to be correct or false information in order to receive hope.

It has been a few centuries since the war with many places still inhabitable due to immense radiation levels. They went nuclear during combat, instantly killing millions.

Most of the survivors were forced to live underground at first but settled in and adapted to their environment. Those who decided to stay on the surface moved to parts of Africa and South America where it was must safer to remain.

A century ago we were given orders to start the restoration of the surface.

For the past few decades the government had been rebuilding most of the old landscapes that were destroyed: schools, homes, hospitals were finally built for the increased population. 

At first all I knew about life before the war was through old archived movies and newspapers the rest leading up to and after the war was propaganda used to enslave people’s minds.

Technology hasn’t improved much since then but I had hope for the once endangered species.
