A Better Best Friend

Surviving school everyday is getting boring, going to the sand classes with the same people, eating the same lunch, and taking every step I took the day before exactly the same way. That's why I like Jack, he's always been a wild card, and you never know what gonna happen. That's why I'm excited to get home and see him, it's almost like all the energy with Jack is positive and pure and I love it, it's like going outside and taking a deep breath of fresh air. Emily and I were walking to her car when suddenly somebody yelled,

"STOP!" I jumped and turned around. It was Finn running through the parking lot as fast as he could, as soon as he got to us he tripped and ate Emily's rear bumper.

"Oh my god Finn! Are you okay?" I asked kneeling down next to him. He looked back at me and then I saw that he had a big lump on his forehead. He smiled and then his face got red,

"Damn that was embarrassing." He had blood on his teeth and I cringed and looked away, blood is so gross.

"What exactly did my car do to you Finn?" Emily asked smiling. Finn looked at her and smiled, she got a disgusted look on her face.

"Why are you guys looking at me like that?" He said defensively.

"Because your teeth are all bloody, do you want a water bottle?" Emily asked. She opened her back door and grabbed a water bottle.

"Oh yeah, thanks." Finn said. She tossed him the water bottle and he stood up. Millie came running up to Finn,

"Finn are you okay? I saw you fall and I came over here as fast as I could!"  She said out of breath. Finn took a big gulp of water and then took another sip and swished it around for a few seconds and then spit,

"Yeah I'm fine I think I just bit my cheek." He said. He wasn't in much pain and there was no blood on his teeth so he was fine. He turned and looked at me, "Before I forget about my whole reason of coming over here, Sophia and Jaeden aren't dating. I asked Jaeden about it and he said they kissed, but now things between them are really awkward." She said. Emily smiled,

"Thank you Finn." She said. She bit her lip and looked down, "I don't even know what to say, can you and Jack talk to him for me?" She asked. Finn nodded,

"Yeah for sure." Emily smiled and her face got so red.

"Alright well we should probably get going." I said nudging Emily. "Thank you Finn by the way, for talking to Jaeden you're a great friend." I patted him on the shoulder. He smiled and put his hands on his hips,

"I don't mean to brag, but I'm a pretty good friend. The best actually." He said. I smiled,

"Whatever skinny, put some meat on those bones." Jack always says that to him so I knew he'd get it.

"Wow thanks Jack. Hey I have a question, are you a 5 year old or do you just sound like one?" He said. He giggled and looked at Millie, " You ready to go babe?" He asked. She nodded and then he looked back at Emily and I, "I'll see you guys later, also Lys tell Jack to come see me later and we'll go talk to Jaeden." He said. They turned and walked away to Finns car.

"My god that was the longest goodbye I've ever been a part of, I thought I was gonna die." I said. Emily laughed,

"I'm too happy to care, you ready to go see Jacky?" She asked. I have he a big embarrassed smile.

"I've waited all day to see Jack." I said. We got in the car and drove home in silence. I'm assuming Emily was thinking about how things might go with Jaeden because I was thinking about Jack. She pulled into her driveway after about 10 minutes and I got out. "Thanks for the ride i'll see you later." I said. I jogged across the street and up to my front door. I reached for the handle and the door opened, I fell because I was leaning towards the door and Jack caught me.

"Hey baby, I've been waiting for this moment all day." He said. I looked up at him and smiled, at this moment in his arms I'm happier than I've been all day.

"I missed you so much. I felt like I was at school for years." I said softly. He smiled and then leaned in and kissed and me softly. I came into the house and went up to my room. Jack came with me, he took his shirt off and shut the door. I laid down and he laid with me, he cleared his throat.

"Hey Lys?" He asked. I looked back at him, his face was red and he was staring at me.

"Yeah?" I asked.

"I-I." He cleared his throat, "Elyssa I love you, we've been best friends forever and I've had a crush on you since I was 10. We're so connected and I just feel like I needed to say this." He said. I have no idea what to say, that's not at all what I was expecting him to stay.

"Jack." I said.
