Chapter 1:
Kerie looked forward at the finish line. All or nothing Kerie. She heard her coach's voice in her head. She got in the running stance beside her opponents. She paid them no mind. She waited to hear the gun fire. The man shot the gun and she took off, a bit slower than the others that she was running against. She was always taught to never start too fast or else you'll be too tired to finish. That's with long distance. Soon, they were at the end of the track and that's when Kerie gained up on the three boys that she was running against. She kept her breathing steady and she straightened her posture. The boy on her left looked at her in disbelief. She'd caught up with every last boy out there and beat them to the finished line. She slowed her pace as she finished the race. The crowd screamed. "Ladies and Gentlemen, that was Kerie Brown!" The announcer said over the loud speaker.
AFTER THE TRACK MEET
"Hey, Kerie." Her friend Darryl said to her as he shook her hand and pulled her in for a hug. "What's up." She smiled at him. He grinned back. "That was pretty impressive out there today." He said kind of like he was bothered by her beating the boys. She noticed his disappointment. "Well...it's just something I enjoy doing." She said kind of shaking away his glare. He looked at her. He's always had a problem with girls being better than guys. She knew that too. "I'm ready for our track meet against Michigan. Those boys are fast." He said. The way he said was as if he were trying to say, 'I bet you can't beat those boys.' Kerie caught on to that as well as his other shots he was throwing at her. She's mature, though, so she let it go. "Well, hey, it's all in the percision." She shrugged. She caught up with her mother. They got in the car and rode to a restaurant. W
AT THE RESTAURANT
Kerie, her mother, her brother, and her father were having a celebration dinner together. Kerie felt that to be the perfect time to bring up the Boys' Regional subject. "Dad..." She began as she finished eating. He wiped his mouth as he was still chewing. "Yes, sweetheart?" He looked up at her. "So, Boys' Regional is in Chino, California this year." She started. Her dad took a sip from his water and then looked at her trying to see where she was going with all of this. She waited to see what he was going to say. "Ok, keep going." He motioned for her to keep talking. She hesitated, then began to talk again. "Well, I wanna sign up for the camp this year!" She said smiling. Her mom dropped her fork, her brother started laughing, and her dad choked on his shrimp. Her dad got himself together and wiped his face again. "Have you thought this out?" Her dad asked in shock. She looked at him with the strongest glare. "Daddy, if I hadn't thought it out, do you think I'd be telling you that I wanna go?" She said waving her hands at him. "But, princess, you're a girl. That's BOYS' Regional, not GIRLS." He said putting emphasis on boys and girls. If Kerie wasn't already pissed off before, she sure was then. "What's that supposed to mean?" She sat up and looked at her dad, waiting to hear more. "Well, you're just not built for some of the things that those boys have to do. I mean, you can't bench press 300 pounds." He said to her. Her brother snorted and looked over at her. "Dad, she can't even press 100!" He started laughing again. Kerie leaned over and thumped him in his nose. "Ouch." He grunted. She looked at her father. "What I'm trying to say is, I don't want you getting hurt. That's all." He said grabbing her hand. She was frustrated. "But, how am I different? How am I gonna get hurt quicker than any of those other boys?" She wanted to know. Her dad rubbed her fingers. "Women are made different from men. They're softer than us, and- "That is not true!" Kerie cut him off in outrage while snatching her hand away. "Yes it is true! Kerie! You have more tissue in your breasts than men do! All women do! Don't take it personal! You are not fit for the kind of training and preparement they go through!" Her dad's words were making her angry. She looked at him, but then a smirk grew over her face. "I'm gonna show you, ALL of you!" She said standing up in front of everyone in the restaurant. "Honey, sit down. You're drawing attention over here!" Her mom butted in. "Yeah! They're all gonna know that I, KERIE BROWN, am more than just a girl from the suburbs of Seattle Washington! Dad! Brendon! I'm gonna show you guys!" She said getting her car keeps and running out of the restaurant.
AT HOME
When she got home, she went into her room and got on her laptop. "Saying I can't go to Boys' Regional? I'll show them." She started to type in the URL for the Boys' Regional. It had the list of sign-ups for boys' international and boys' state. She looked all over the website. As she surfed the page, her brain hatched an idea. She looked at the sign-up section. She clicked on it. It opened up. She saw a young man on the cover for Boys' International. He was posing with his arms folded and his smile was so radiant. She looked further down the page and found his name. "Michael Jackson." She sighed as she kept looking at his reviews and his credits. This boy was her role model. She looked up and down the page and saw pictures of him squatting weights up to 500 pounds by himself. She saw the perfectly edited picture of him in his football uniform. As she kept looking she saw pictures of his girlfriend as a cheerleader. That's when she'd decided that enough was enough. She was going to Boys' Regional and she didn't care what it took to get there. She was tired of seeing the image of girls as soft cheerleaders on the side of their football playing, buff boyfriends. She was tired of Boys' Regional just being for boys. She decided to sign up. She clicked on the sign-up sheet, printed it out and started to fill it out.
Later that day...
She gathered her things and got in her car and went down to the arena where the Boys' Regional sign-ups were held. She had her sheet and she waited in line. All she saw was boys, boys, and MORE BOYS! She got upset, as she looked around noticing that it was nothing but boys. She waited unitl they got to her. "Okay, Kerie? Kind of girlish name for a boy." The Head Master said as he looked at her sign-up sheet. He read through it without looking up at her yet. Suddenly, he looked up at her. He paused. Then he started giggling. "You sure look like a young lady. No offense." He smirked at her. "I am. But trust me, you'd be surprised at what I can do." She smiled at him. He scoffed and looked down at her paper. "Look, sweetie, this is a bit too intense for you." He said looking at her like she was just another random girl. She looked at him a got upset all over again. "What?" She said. He sighed. "I'm sorry but we can't accept this application." He said shrugging and tossing it in the trash. With that, Kerie got outraged. "Now it's time to listen to me. I am not just some little five year-old girl running around with a damn tutu on singing happy princess ballerina shit!" She said then she exhaled sharply. He looked at her in amusement. "Wow, that was impressive. But no." He said shooing her away. She got down in his face and slammed her hand on the desk. "Let me freaking go." She said softly. "Babygirl, we've got like 200 more boys to see. Get out of the way." He said shooing her again. She stood back up. She turned around and looked at the boys who were waiting. She crossed her arms and tapped her foot. "I'm not leaving until you accept my application." She said, boldly. The head master raised his eyebrow. "Oh really?" He said in a normal tone. She nodded her head. "Security." He said smiling at her. The guards came up and took her out. "Get the hell off of me. I know how to fucking walk!" She said slapping the guard on her right side. The guard on her left threw her down and closed the door behind her. She sighed and got up. She dusted herself off. "I'm going to Boys' Regional. Even if it means I have to lie." She said getting up and walking back to her car. She drove off. Instead of driving to her house, she drove to her friend's house, Karmen. She knocked on the door. "KARMEN! IT'S ME!" She said. Karmen opened the door. "Hey, Kerie. You looking good girl, damn." Karmen said licking her lips at Kerie. Kerie sighed and waved her off. "I need a favor." She began. Karmen nodded her head. "Come on in." She said opening the door all the way. "Sit down. Make yourself at home." Karmen said. Kerie sat down with her. "So, what do you need?" Karmen asked. "I need you to transform me into a boy." Kerie smirked at Karmen. Karmen looked at her like she'd lost her mind.
