Chapter 11

We left shortly after Scar and I got ready. Phoenix was already there in the kitchen by the time we got downstairs, wearing a smart black tuxedo, complete with a deep, blue tie and I will admit that it took me completely by surprise.

Phoenix noticed that I was caught off guard and his lips quirked up into a small smirk.

'Are you trying to catch flies?'

My mouth snapped shut and I glared at him.

'Alright smart mouth, I was just wondering why the hell you're wearing a suit.' His smirk disappeared of his face and he gave me a weird look.

'Why do you think? I need to find a way inside of the building, so I need to look the part. This is a ball you know.' I pursed my lips at his response and tutted.

'Fair enough...' I responded, not knowing what else to say to his words.

'Scar, did you find a way to put me on the guest list?' I turned towards the smaller girl who had placed her laptop on the island in the middle of the room and was typing furiously.

'You'll be on the list in two minutes. I'm finding a hard time hacking their SHIELD.'

SHIELD?

'Let me guess.' Phoenix said loudly in my ear, causing me to jump. He faced me, and a condescending smile had graced his face.

'You don't know what a SHIELD is, do you?' Gulping at the somewhat intimidating expression on his face, I lowered my head, unsure of how to answer despite my answer being obvious.

'Leave her alone, Phoenix.' Levi said, as he strode into the kitchen with Dan, looking like a man on a mission. Well, as of this moment, he was.

'A system housing independent and extreme level defences. SHIELD. Also, douchebag, you're on the guest list. From now on, you're Zack Morella. Dan, you'll be Tyler Morella,' Scar said, shutting her laptop with a snap and shoving it in her bag. I was a little surprised, as well as impressed, that she was able to do something as complicated as hacking into the Governess' system, creating a fake persona and placing them on the guest list in a matter of seconds.

I gulped, somewhat scared at the abilities that this girl possessed.

If she's that good, what are the others capable of?

'We should probably leave now,' Levi muttered, slinging his bag over his shoulder. He turned to look at me for a second and I took in his features. His face was set in a hard gaze, his brown eyes seeming dull in comparison to the life that was in them earlier.

'You can still change your mind, you know. You don't have to-', he started, but he was harshly interrupted by Phoenix who was clearly eager to get a move on.

'Leave her Levi, stop trying to hide her from the truth she's eventually going to have to face.' His critical gaze landed on me and I shifted uncomfortably. I noticed the way Levi's jaw clenched at his response and he nodded, almost imperceivably.

'Alright then, Kris gave me the plan already. He's staying here now. Phoenix and Dan will infiltrate and steal what we want before The Doves get to it. I'll be on the roof opposite. Amery, you'll stay with me.' I nodded at his strict instructions.

'Where do you want me?' Scar demanded, and I winced at her strong tone, transforming her from an innocent girl to a hacking genius in a matter of seconds.

'You can be wherever, just stay hidden.' Levi said, after thinking for a while.

'Sure thing Boss.' She replied, with a mock salute which made Levi chuckle.
