Evangeline:
The coffee shop was busier than ever. As a twenty three year old, Evangeline had expected to be much more fulfilled in life by now. When she was about sixteen she had sworn to herself she'd be very sophisticated, she would work somewhere in a firm, own a big house, be married and have at least two kids by the time she hit twenty two years old. Obviously that was way up there on the dream list but she truly had believed it would happen at one point. Instead she was a barista at the local South End Coffee Shop, had no husband, no kids and was as sophisticated as a basic college student could be. The only good thing going for her right now was her boyfriend Eric, her German Shepard Sabby and her one bedroom apartment which of course had rent that was way past due. How she was gonna get through the next few months without being evicted, she had no clue. Setting a Vanilla latte on the counter, she pushed up her squared glasses and called out the name on the cup. In seconds the owner came and went. Happy that the coffee shop was finally close to empty she made a relieved sigh and worked her way to the small tables being sure to wipe them down as much as possible and disinfect whatever germs the customers might had brought along with them.
An hour had finally passed, Evangeline was exhausted and in need of a well deserved rest after the busy day she had. It wasn't that she hated her job or anything, she just wished she had more things to look forward to in life aside from cleaning tables and making coffees. Stuck in a tired daze, she didnt realize anyone was talking to her until a throaty cough snapped her out of it. A tall man with long blonde hair and a jawline sculpted from the gods stood before her with an annoyed expression on his face. Had she really been out of it that long?
"H-how can I help you?", she stammered nervously. He looked intimidating, his green eyes bore into her, causing a shiver to run down her spine. Its crazy how intense people get over a cup of coffee these days.
His posture seemed to have become angry and he seemed to have grown taller, it was like he wanted to hurt her and yet, just as quick as he seemed menacing, his whole body finally softened. "A large dark brew coffee." he said.
Much to her surprise, the mans voice wasn't as creepy as he had seemed a few seconds ago and for a moment she believed she had imagined his appearance being anything but soft and handsome. "Anything else?" she asked, punching in his order.
"No, thats all." he replied, taking money out of his wallet and setting it on the counter before she could even say how much his total was. Oddly enough, he had given her the exact amount due, right down to the nickle.
"Come here often?" She asked curiously as she began putting the money in the register.
He smiled at her softly which instantly made her blush. His parents really blessed him with hot genes and she found herself longing for him to speak again. "Here and there, usually towards night after work, I'm sure you get it."
Before Evangeline could say anything back, the mans phone began to ring and almost instantaneously he answered without even a glance at the number. His voice went from soft to business like and she knew the conversation was then sealed. Maybe that was for the best, after all, she did have a boyfriend and her eyes should've only been on him and not some man with the face and body of a God. He was perhaps the sexiest man she had ever laid eyes on and that stirred something in her core she hadn't felt in a very long time. Throwing the thoughts out of her head, Evangeline went on to make the handsome man his coffee, the fantasizing would have to wait. She took her time pouring the black coffee into a large cup, placed a lid on it and slid it on the counter. "Here's your drink Sir." She called out to him.
Still on the phone, he scooped up the drink and winked at Evangeline which made her confused and flustered all at once. What was going on with her tonight? Her only reasonable excuse was that she was sleep deprived and her body was just going through random mood swings. Without a single word to her, he was out the door and she couldn't help but feel a little dismal about it. "Maybe he'd come back again tomorrow.", she thought to herself as she began rinsing out the now empty coffee pot. Work shift half over, she rubbed her eyes tiredly smearing her mascara under her eyes a little and locked the coffee shop up. Her car seemed to be miles away from her as she lazily walked to the dirty blue 2015 Mazda. Once inside all thoughts of a handsome stranger were gone and replaced with the idea of her warm comforter, Eric and Sabby cuddled next to her and her fan blaring the soothing noise that always made her fall fast asleep after a long day. Suddenly her eyes began to close and it took all her will power to keep them open for the next few minutes drive.
When she finally arrived home, she was relieved to see everything cleaned and fresh. The apartment smelled of strawberries and the fireplace was lit making the dark living room look even cozier than when she left. "Eric must have had a good day on his book." she thought to herself as a yawn escaped her mouth, what she wouldn't do for some good nights rest. Kicking off her white flats and sliding them next to the front door, she walked her way to her bedroom only to find the door shut. Too exhausted to wonder why, Evangeline opened the door to see a naked Eric laying across the bed, her eyes took a moment to register what was going on and once she did, she couldn't help the small giggle that began to build in her throat. Her favorite Strawberry scented candles were lit up on both sides of the bed, rose petals laid in a trail on the white carpet leading to the bed and Sabby was laying by the closet looking a bit overwhelmed. The whole scene made her chortle hard and she couldn't control it which made Erics face light up.
"Glad youre home little lady, we've been expecting you." he smirked devilishly.
Trying to compose herself, she laid her purse on the ground and walked the the bed, careful not to ruin any of the sweet petals. "Sorry, wasn't on my agenda to be painting you like one of my french girls." She joked as she crawled to him.
Eric's arm wrapped around her delicate waist and pulled her against his naked body which made Evangeline tremble. It had been months since they last had sex and her body yearned to have him, almost as much as it yearned to sleep. He laid her down gently and steadily kissed her plump lips, working his way down to her exposed neck. As much as Evangeline wanted to be with him tonight, her eyes no longer could stay open and as his hands fumbled with her work blouse, she drifted off into a sleep she had fantasized about all day long.
