Chapter Five

Sophie’s Pov

“Sophie you look fine.” Reiner said from his place on my couch.

I give him a look, “Diamond earrings or sapphire?” I hold one of each up to my ears.

Bertolt comes into the room holding Benji, “I’d say sapphire since you are wearing blue.”

Benji reaches for me, “Mama! Mama!” He wasn’t happy to see me have to go considering that Saturday nights were our cartoon nights. I hold him in my arms, “No go mama, no go.” He whimpers.

I swallow hard and try to put down the feeling that I’m a bad mother, “Oh baby I can’t tonight but I promise I’ll have Bertl-turtle and Reindeer there DVR our shows and we can watch them all tomorrow. Is that okay?” Benji looks at me and wrinkles his nose.

“Okay…” I smile.

“You are my little trooper, what would I do without you?” I kiss his forehead.

“Hey Soph, we have five minutes.” Jean says as he comes out of my bathroom fixing his cufflinks.

Marco comes from my bedroom bathroom fumbling around with his tie, “Can I get a little help?”

Jean sighs as he fixes his best friend’s tie. They came over to my apartment early to play with Benji and visit here. In the end though they ended up staying here to get ready as well.  It was fine by me though considering I would be riding with them to the gala. My wall clock chimes eight and I know that it’s time to go. Kissing Benjamin on the forehead again I hand him to Reiner and Bertolt who both agreed to watch my precious son tonight.

Jean opens the door for Marco and I. Marco walks out first and as I grab my purse and heels I quickly run out of the apartment. I don’t want to hear Benji cry out for me because if I hear his whining for me one more time then I know I’ll cancel and stay home with him. The apartment door shuts and while I go to Hanji’s apartment to meet up with everyone the two of them were going to get the car ready.

I make the walk quick and place three quick knocks on Hanji’s door. It immediately flings open and Hanji is standing there with her makeup still not on. However she was dressed already. She was in a beautiful deep yellow/gold dress. It was sleek and fit her body well and it was also strapless. However she did still have her glasses on and behind those I could see a very panicked look. “Good you’re here! I need your help with my makeup for tonight I don’t know what I’m doing!” She pulls me into her apartment and we brush past all of the guys and into her bedroom bathroom.

Scattered across the bathroom counter was all manner of beauty products. Most of it looked horribly out of date and all of the eyeliners weren’t sharpened correctly. Picking up the black eyeliner I would be using I quickly pick up the sharpener on the counter and get it sharp. “Sit.” I point to the edge of the tub. Putting down the lid of her toilet I sit there and tilt her head back a bit to apply it.

“Alright, so tell me why you didn’t just call me up earlier to help you?” I ask while I finished off her liner.

“I figured you were busy getting ready and I didn’t want to take you away from your son.”

“You could’ve just come down then.” I pick up some brown, tan, and light beige. I start to work on her night time smokey eye.

“Yeah I guess so.” We fall silent so I can quickly finish her look.

“Okay do mascara and you’re done.” I hand her the tube to do herself and step back. She finishes off her look and places her glasses back on to see.

“This looks amazing! Thanks so much Sophie!”

I can tell I’m no longer needed so I go out to meet the guys now. Stepping into the living room I see them all looking at me. I have to say though, they do clean up nicely. All of them are sharp in black suits and ties. Erwin is standing in the center of the room while Dita and Darius are seated on the long couch. Mike is leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. Levi himself was sitting in the single chair with his leg crossed over the other; looking bored. The other’s perspective others and dates all stood around wearing beautiful dresses.
