Note to self: Do not attempt to commit suicide again
- Chapter 5
I breathed in and out nice and slowly. Take nice clam breaths Chantie, you can do this, I said to myself. I turned the door knob as slowly as possible, slower than a snail probably could. The door flung opened and I ushered Dave inside. Dave's eyes scanned the house which didn't surprise me. Dave came from a rich family so seeing my house was shock to him.
"Michelle, Gabe, Jamie!" I yelled. "I'm home and Dave is here too." I hoped that they didn't hear me. Maybe I shouldn't have yelled.
Michelle was in the kitchen but she walked towards us and gave me a hug, which was something she hardly ever did. Actually I don't think she has ever done that. What was up with her?
"Hello darling Chantie," she squeezed me tighter and finally released me. "Oh and you must be David." She hugged him too.
"Hello Ma'am. How are you? Oh and just call me Dave," Dave politely said. I laughed mentally to myself, trying to not be rude.
"Why aren't you a polite guy and a very handsome one too?" Michelle murmured, half checking him out. I rolled my eyes and sighed. I shoot her a 'please don't embarrass me look'. She ignored the look and asked me, "How come you never told me that Dave is good looking?"
OH
MY
GOD
SHE
DIDN'T
I couldn't believe that she said that. In front of Dave! I started to bang my head on the wall, hoping that I would get brain damage of some sort. It was becoming a habit for me. "It's okay Chantie, I'm not going to embarrass you."
But you already are, I thought to myself. I blame the baby hormones!
"Do you want to see my room?" I asked Dave. I had to say something, anything to try and get him away from Michelle.
"Um sure," Dave said. From the sound of his voice, I could tell that he was feeling a little bit concerned.
I got his arm and dragged him to my room. As soon as we were both in my room I closed the door carefully. Once I slammed the door shut and I was stuck in there for 2 days. Yeah, I was pretty stupid back then. I leaned against the door. I slowly slid down, using the door to support me, so that I was sitting on the floor. I hugged my legs and rested my head on my knees.
Dave sat next to me. "Nice room," I heard him say. Pfft, my room was a pig sty. Girls usually have clean rooms but mine sure isn't.
I didn't reply to him. "Look it's not that bad. Michelle seams really friendly. She thinks I'm good looking," Dave smirked. I lifted my head up and laughed. I wish Dave didn't hear that part. "I love the sound of your laugh. It's something that I rarely hear. It's beautiful."
"Yeah," I mumbled quietly. It was silent after that. Not an awkward silence but a nice and relaxing silence. I rested my head on Dave's shoulder as he put his
arm around me. He moved my fringe out of my face and played with my hair softly.
"So where's the little Jamie that I've been hearing so much about?" He asked, breaking the silence.
"Oh my god, I totally forgot!" I exclaimed. I instantly stood up and straightened my clothes. "Come on, you have to meet him. He's adorable!" I squealed. I couldn't believe I almost forgot about little Jamie.
"Lead the way," Dave declared, motioning his hand for me to direct him the way. I grabbed Dave's hand once again and pulled him out of my room and towards Jamie's room.
