Cat Noir woke up to the beeping of a heart monitor. His gaze drifted right and then left before realizing he was in no other place but a cold and uncomfortable hospital bed. He tried to remember how he got here. His mind recalled pain, lots of pain. He remembered Ladybug crying, but he couldn't think why. He expected ladybug to be sitting and waiting for him to awaken. But to his disappointment he saw the three white chairs empty.
A red haired nurse by the name of Anna came into the room expecting to see an uncounsious patient. A pair of green eyes looked back at her and she almost dropped her clipboard in shock. She was not prepared for her hero to be awake. Without saying a word she sprinted out of the room the same color as a beet.
Cat Noir cocked his head thinking about the strange nurse. He couldn't put a finger on why she had acted this way. He told himself it was nothing and lay his head back to rest. After all, he had discovered it hurt to move his torso.
It wasn't long before all the doctors in Hôpital Saint-Antoine knew Cat Noir was awake and many were disappointed they couldn't go see him due to other patients. But the kind doctor who had just sent his partner away was the first to hear. The beet red nurse followed the doctor down the hall to room 264 and watched as he slowly opened the door.
Cat Noir liked guests, so when he saw the doctor enter his room he was pleased. He tried to sit up but a stabbing pain went through his chest and he decided it was better to stay vertical.
The doctor stepped closer to his patient and waited for him to say something. When he did not, Andros, the doctor, began the conversation. "Mr. Agreste."
Cat Noir tensed at the use of his civilian name and began to wonder how it was the doctor knew. He looked down at his arm, ignoring the pain, and to his horror saw his own pale arm. "It's fine he thought to himself, "I probably detransformed before I got here" the distressed cat told himself. But somewhere in the back of his mind he knew he hadn't. He looked again at his hand but saw no silver ring on his finger. The pain was now overwhelming and he had to put his head down. Relaxing a little as the pain subsided he managed to choke out, "my ring" before he once again slipped into unconsciousness.
Andros sat in one of the empty chairs and signaled to the nurse to close the door. She complied and sat next to him hiding her face from Adrien. The two sat in silence for no longer than thirty seconds before the boy woke up from his trance. Andros walked over to his beside, "Mr. Agreste" he repeated.
"How-" Adrien began, but Andros cut him off.
"You must have a lot of questions, but I'm sure the first is about your ring. It is on your beside table." He spoke in a very calm and cool voice that made Adrien feel less tense, like everything was going to be alright. "We had to operate immediately else you wouldn't be alive, so we removed your cat suit to get a better look. I don't know how my surgeons would have managed if we didn't-" now it was Adrien's turn to cut him off.
"It's okay. You did what you had to. The cat had to come out of the bag one way or another. Thank you." Adrien smiled up at Andros who breathed a sigh of relief. The two were silent for a moment before Adrien's face clouded over, "What happened to me?"
Andros suddenly became more serious. His face too became darker and he talked in a way that scared the young boy. "You were stabbed." Doctor and patient stared at eachother. Andros, anticipating Adrien's question, continued talking. "How? We don't know."
