"We are all a little weird and life's a little weird, and when we find someone who's weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love." -Dr. Seuss

Allison Reed is sitting next to Lydia Huntington in the audience of a packed gymnasium at the local elementary school. Lydia Huntington is staring at Allison Reed and Allison Reed doesn't notice because she is staring at Toby Martin. Emmet Knight has been looking at Lydia out of the corner of his eye for the past five minutes and Laura Bell is looking at them all (her eyes may or may not linger on Daniel Smith for a bit longer than she would like to admit) with a small smile on her face and a thoughtful look in her eyes.

It is all just a big complicated web of looking and not seeing but Toby sees it all because he is standing on stage asking everyone to please turn off their cell phones, and he sees his friends and he feels happy and sad all at once because they're a mess. They all feel something for each other and they're all too scared to do anything about it. Toby decides that he is going to do something about it. So, as he introduces the kids he's mentored for the past three months he shoots a dazzling smile directly at Allison and then he smiles again, softly and to himself, because he totally loves Allison Reed and he's totally going to do something about it.

Seussical the Musical is going to resume after a 15-minute intermission and Allison wants to take a 15-hour nap. It's not like the show is horrible, of course it's good because Toby directed it, it's just confusing. Why is an elephant scared of monkeys and how can a 12 year old have such a good voice?

Allison is only here because of Toby who has been talking about this show for four months nonstop and who made everyone promise to come see it on opening night. Speaking of the devil, Toby is walking directly towards Allison with a purposeful look on his face.

"Allison! Are you enjoying the show?!" Toby asks in his usual over-excited manner.

"It's not bad," Allison supplies, knowing that if she is too excited then she'll never hear the end about her so called 'conversion' but if she's too unimpressed then she'll hurt Toby's feelings. Truthfully, although she'll never admit it, Allison thinks that the show is excellent if not a little bit random and she thinks that Toby did an amazing thing by helping all of those talented kids. If she's being honest, she thinks Toby is all around pretty amazing but she's obviously not going to say that because he doesn't even like her and she doesn't even like him either, no matter what Lydia says and God she wishes that Lydia would just tell her what's wrong already because she feels like they aren't back to normal- not even close, and she misses her so much and

"Allie?"

Toby's voice breaks Allison out of her thoughts and she's too preoccupied to even scold him for calling her Allie.

"Oh sorry, what? I wasn't listening."

Toby rolls his eyes, a smirk forming on his lips. "I said," he proceeds slowly, "I was wondering if you wanted to get something to eat after this?"

"Yeah we were all planning to go to Gianni's after and then maybe-"

"No I mean like, just the two of us." he clarifies. For a few seconds Allison just stares at him, and when she finally replies it comes out strangled and surprised.

"Y-yeah," Allison hates herself for stuttering, and she absolutely despises the blush slowly clouding her cheeks.

"Yeah that sounds fun." She affirms, hoping Toby will walk away so that she can compose herself.

Toby senses her discomfort and just can't help himself. His smirk grows wider and he licks his lips slowly, maintaining eye contact with Allison the entire time. Allison glares at him as the blush on her cheeks flourishes into a canvas of bright red blotches that won't go away.

"Great! Well I have to get back, enjoy the rest of the show!" Toby says cheerfully and he actually has the audacity to wink. Toby! Martin! Just! Winked! At! Allison! Reed! She is going to kill him. Maybe kiss him first, but she's totally going to kill him afterwards.

By the end of the show Allison cannot stop fidgeting and Lydia cannot stop shooting Allison questioning glances and Horton cannot stop saying 'a person's a person no matter how small.' The audience loves the show, and they give the cast a standing ovation. The cast seems to love Toby just as much, giving him a bouquet of bright pink flowers. The girl who played Mayzie runs up to give him a hug, which leads to everyone on stage running to give him a hug, which leads to Daniel's screaming of "ENCORE! ENCORE!" which leads to Toby's grin growing until it stretches from ear to ear as the curtain closes.

"Ok, spill." Lydia commands in a way that informs Allison she means business.

"What?" Allison decides that feigning obliviousness is her best option.

Apparently, this was not the best option and Lydia shoots Allison a glare that could probably freeze the sun.

"Ok, Toby may have like, asked me out?"

"Is that a question or a statement?"

"Um, a statement?"

Lydia shoots Allison another glare and she's about to open her mouth to scold her again when Toby comes up from behind and tugs on Allison's arm.

"Are you ready?" He asks.

"Uh, yeah," Allison responds shooting Lydia a tentative smile. Lydia responds with a look that Allison knows means she has some questions to answer later.

"So how did you like the show?" Toby inquires on the way to his car.

"Eh, it was alright." Allison replied playfully.

"You are so converted." Toby says smugly.

At this Allison shrugs and smiles softly.

"You don't know the half of it."
