Story Starts

"What the shuck?" Alby yells.

I bury my head in Gally's neck at the loud noise of disbelief.

"What's with the weird words?" I whisper to Gally.

"How should I know." Gally says bluntly.

"Well you are the almighty Gally. You're suppose to know everything." I said quietly in a joking manner.

"That I am. That I am." Gally said chuckling lightly.

I sigh loudly. All i want is some food and a good nights sleep, but these two guys are still here. As if Gally could sense my frustration he said to me,

"Hang in there kitten."

The dark skinned boy, Alby and the light haired boy Newt were talking in a corner of the box we still stood in. I could tell they were talking about me and Gally.

"What are we gonna a do, Alby? We have a two greenies, and one of them is a girl to top it all off!" Newt said softly.

"Lets just show them around the glade, first. We can have a gathering later. We don't wanna scare them or any of the gladers." Alby answered.

"Good that." Newt replied.

Both the boys turned to address Gally and I.

"Come on greenbeans. Time for the tour." Newt said.

"We have names you know." I said, the sass clear in my voice.

Gally pinched me softly. And the other two rolled their eyes.

Newt took the rope first to climb out. When it was our turn, Gally put me down and help me to get up. It was so bright once we were out of that dim box. I could see a large field, and huge stone walls surrounding it.

"You best get on with the tour, Newt. Frypan should have dinner ready soon."

With that said Alby walked away towards a large rickety building. 

Newt turned around to face us. Opening his arms wide he said,

"Welcome to the glade."

I hid my face in Gally's chest as I laughed.

Newt sputtered, "What's so funny?"

"You." I said laughter evident in my voice.

"Your gonna get along great with Minho." Newt replied shaking his head.

I cocked my head to the side asking," Who's Minho?"

"Me, you sexy devil." A new voice said who i assumed is Minho.

Gally grabbed my waist. And growled out,

"She's mine."

"Sorry greenbean or should I say greenbeans." Minho said hands raised in surrender.

I rub Gally's arms calming him down slightly.

"Well let's get on with the tour." Newt said awkwardly.

"Yeah we should start that." I give him a strained smile.

"We'll see you later Minho. Talk to Alby about the whole greenie situation, I think he wants a gathering later today."

"Ok." Minho responded and walked off to a safe in one of the walls.

"So, what is this place?" I questioned.

"This is the glade. Every month a new greenie comes up the box. And every week we get supplies." Newt explains.

"What's with the walls?" Gally asked.

"Well, beyond those wall is an ever changing maze. That the creators put us.

"Who are the creators?"

"We don't know."

"Why haven't you guys found a way out?"

Newt breathed in deeply," The only way out is through the maze. And the only way out of the maze is if we solve it, but the maze changes everyday."

"Why is Ki, I mean Elizabeth the only girl?" Gally asked slightly alarmed.

"Well we've never had two greenies. Let alone a girl." Newt said scratching his neck.

"What's with all these weird words?" I questioned cutting Gally off.

"Glader slang." Newt replied like that explains everything.

Before Gally or I could ask any more questions a loud horn blew. I jumped a little. Me and loud nosies are not friends.

"Time for dinner. Come on you two, time for you to meet the rest of the glade."

We walked to this cafeteria like place.  All of the chatter immediately stops and everyone turns to look at Newt, Gally.

"Cub?" I whisper to Gally. " I'm scared." I whimper out.

Gally put his arm around my shoulders and pulls me flush against his body.

" I have some announcements to make!" Newt yelled his authoritative voice back. "These are our new GREENIES," He said making the greenies stand out. "There will also be a gathering to night after dinner. I'm talkin to you keepers. That's all."

People stare at us for a moment before digging in to their food. Newt leads us to a table and gets Gally and I some food.

"Better get eating newbies. You gotta long night ahead of you." Newt said winking as he walked away.
