"Stay safe darling." Mom gave me a tight hug as if she'd never see me again. I quickly pulled away, embarrassed of her act of love.
"Mom of course I'll be safe. I'm just going to dad's house jeesh." Without giving her time to say anything else I hopped into the private plane that dad sent and buckled up.
"Ready?" The pilot asked. I nodded my head and looked out the window. As the plane took off I watched the world zoom past. "Wanna have some fun?" He asked after a while.

"U-we-tsi-a-ge-ya." (daughter) I sat down the basket of clothes that I had just got from the clothes line.
"V-v u-ni-tsi?" (yes mother) She gestured for me to come with her and she led me to the stream that was near the camp.
"How is Bir treating you?" She whispered, scared that someone would hear us speaking english. Mom was half english half hindi. Anything english was banned from being in camp because of how english men came and destroyed everything that we had established. Mom was only allowed to be here because of my father, who was chief of our tribe.
"We don't talk much we're both pretty busy." I whispered back. I was in an arranged marriage with the youngest strongest warrior of camp. Although he seemed nice and loved me for who I truly was I didn't return the feelings.
"Good." Mom looked from behind me and forced a smile to her lips. "Go-tlv-di u-do-hi-yu-i to a-gi-s-di-yi i-ga-dv a-ma."(go get some water) I nodded and kneeled down to fill up the water pouch that everyone in my tribe carried.
"O-si-yo."(hello) Bir's voice was deep and rough. He had been gone about two weeks, hunting food for the tribe. "Hi-la-go are ni-hi?"(how are you) I asked forcing a smile. Bir was sweet and caring but I didn't have that connection with him that my mother and father had. I yearned for that connection more than anything.
"A-yv na-na-dv-ne-hv o-sdv."(i am doing good) He went to hug me but I quickly stepped back and shook my head sadly. "You do not love me as I do you." His language unpracticed but understandable.
"I'm sorry Bir I wish I did. I really want to." It was true I wanted to love the person I was to marry but that feeling was just not there.
"I can call off the wedding if you like." I shook my head sighing. I knew that would only make a bunch of the tribe mad and my happiness was not worth that kind of trouble.
"Tla it's ok."(no it's ok) I said quickly switching back to my language. Bir had always been my friend and I wouldn't hurt him. After a long moment of silence he nodded and walked back to camp. I turned my back to him and started singing one of the ancient Hindi songs. As I was about to leave there was a loud crashing sound. Wood splintered, metal groaning, and finally there is pure silence that fell through the woods. Slowly I headed towards the spot the noise came from. I didn't know what I'd see but I wasn't expecting a plane tore to pieces in front of me.

The pilot was showing me cool tricks when suddenly everything stopped working and we were falling through the sky. I squeezed my eyes shut for what seemed like days until there was no movement or sound. I opened my eyes and squinted as the bright sunlight flooded my vision. "O-si-yo?"(Hello) A sweet voice said. I groaned wondering if I was having a nightmare. "Are ni-hi ok?"(are you ok) The voice asked.
"What?" I groaned trying to get up but a shooting pain went through my leg and I screamed in pain.
"E-lu-we-i!"(quiet) She had put a hand over my mouth, muffling my scream. I took her hand off my mouth and looked down at my leg to see a large shard of metal sticking out. Everything went dark as I fainted.

I bit my lip trying to decide rather to leave them there for dead or to take him somewhere and heal him. His kind of people had destroyed a lot of things that I loved, but he wasn't those guys. He may be of his kind but he never harmed one of us. My decision made I grabbed under his arms and pulled him out of plane. I have explored these woods for many years and knew every crook and cranny there was to know. A few years ago I found a cave and visit it every chance I get, now I'm visiting it again with someone in tow. I went into the cave and laid him on the bed I made for myself whenever I wanted to spend the night here. I looked around and saw everything was exactly as I left it. I brought my vase here and filled it with flowers that were long dead now, the healing herbs that I had secretly kept in here were still on the shelf, and piles of moss were in the corner. I grabbed the ginger and horsetail from the shelf and quickly walked back to where the english boy laid. His face was pale and I was worried that he would get an infection. I worked quickly, using my hunting knife to pry the metal out, using horsetail to stop the bleeding. After the bleeding almost stopped I grabbed the ginger and rubbed it into the wound to help prevent infection. When I was done bandaging his wound with rabbit hide I slipped out of the cave and saw that the sun was setting. My parents were going to have a fit when I don't came back.

I opened my eyes to see the girl sitting in front of a fire. "Who are you and what am I doing here?" I couldn't remember much of what had happened.
"A-yv am Maya. Ni-hi ge-sv-gi ha-wi-na-di-tlv a ga-no-hi-li-do crash." (I am maya. You were in a plane crash.) I was confused and looked up at the rock ceiling.
"You don't speak english do you?" I whispered. She shrugged and handed me a piece of meat. I quickly ate it, hungry after my accident. "How are we going to communicate if you won't speak english?" Her face cutely scrunched up while she was thinking. After long moments of silence she shrugged again and I sighed. "Ok how do I get back home?"
"O-we-nv-sv?" She asked.
"I don't-" I started but she put her hand over my mouth and shushed me.
"Maya?" A male's voice called. Maya pressed her finger to her lip's and climbed up a hole that was in the cave ceiling. "Maya!" The guy shouted again.
"V-v?" (yes) Maya's sweet voice answered. I guess the cave was secret if she didn't just come straight out. I sat up, wincing in pain, and looked down to see the hide wrapped around my leg. Gingerly I uncovered my leg and was surprised that there wasn't much blood and the wound wasn't infected as far as I could tell.
"Ha-tlv-no u-ha been?" (Where have you been) There was a silence for a few minutes.
"A-yv a-ye-hv u-ni-wa-s-gv the sv-no-yi a-ha-ni." (i was spending the night here) She answered. Their voices became distant as Maya led him and a thought hit me. I am lost and I might never see my mom again.

Bir had led me back to camp and let everyone know that he had found me. Although I was never lost in the first place. Anger fizzled deep inside me but I quickly pushed it down and stayed quiet while everyone worshipped him for 'saving me'. "Daughter what is wrong?" Mom had come up behind me and whispered in the Hindi tongue.
"Nothing." I felt guilty for keeping the english boy quiet. I had pretended not to know english so he wouldn't pester me with questions but I had soon found out that he was very interesting and observant.
"Ga-na-gv-i!" She exclaimed and I winced afraid others had heard her. I gave a slight gesture to follow me away from listening ears.
"There was a plane crash in the woods and an english boy was in it the other one is dead." I explained quietly. Her eyes widened and frantically looked around.
"Are you out of your mind?!" She exclaimed. I chewed on my lip, afraid that she would give me away. "How badly is this boy hurt?" Her eyes warily kept watch as I explained what needed to be done.
"He just needs close eyes so it won't get infected then he can go back where he came from." I finished saying. Her eyes met mine and became distant as she thought.
"I know what we need to do."

I started getting restless and was about to leave the opening of the cave when I heard twigs snapping and leaves rustling. I quickly hid in the shadows, wary of who or what might be out there. Years of training with my army commander dad kicked in. Looking around for something to defend myself, I grabbed a couple of small sharp rocks. Better than nothing. As the noises came closer I crept to the opening, ready to bash the head of my predator. Maya's head peeked inside and if I hadn't recognized her she would be on the floor wailing. "Maya!" Her eyes widened in surprise and quickly transformed into amusement when she saw the rocks.
"You are trained." Her English took me aback so I only nodded even though she didn't state it as a question. "This is my mother you may call her Geneva." She gestured to the woman behind her and I nodded in greeting. "Mother this is the boy from the plane."
"Name's Noah nice to meet you m'am." I held my hand out to her and she took my forearm, shaking it.
"That is our way of greeting." Maya explained. "My mother is of the English world but my father is Indian. The chief of the Hindi tribe actually." Her eyes gleamed with pride, her smile so infectious that I smiled along with her.
"That's the language you were talking." I said more to myself. She nodded and said, "anything English is banned from my tribe. Your kind has destroyed us. My mother stays because my father would not let her die. He fell in love with my mother and they had me."
"You must stay hidden. There is no telling what they'll do to you if they discover you." Geneva said for the first time. I nodded as fear crept inside me.
"This cave is very secret so there should be no problem but you must stay and heal before you may leave." Maya spoke up. My heart shattered at the thought of never seeing my family again. It must have showed on my face because Geneva knelt beside me.
"You will see your momma and papa again soon. I know what it is like to be taken from your loved ones." My eyes widened. Did she mean the Hindi's took her away from her family? "Meeka did not take me the english men did and they murdered them brutally. He is my savior as well as the love of my life." I nodded and smiled. It must be nice to have someone to love and to be loved.
Maya
Noah and I spent a lot of time together over the next few weeks. We either went out to collect stuff or we stayed in the cave telling each other stories. His wound healed rather quickly and soon we started looking for ways to get him home. "Maya does your people choose your name specially or what?" He asked one day while we were collecting herbs.
"Yes when we're born we're just called youngsters until we find our special skills."
"What does your name mean?" I smiled at his curiosity.
"My name means dream."
"You mean your good at dreaming?" I laughed and said, "no it means that my dreams mean something. Let's say I have a dream about the hunters killing a buffalo it means that we will get something very huge to eat." His eyes widened in awe. We sat in silence for a long moment. "Do you hear that?" I whispered when I heard a whirring noise from above.
"It's a helicopter!" Noah shouted and ran out of the cave, his leg was clearly healed. "Hey I'm right here!!" He waved his arms wildly trying to get the people's attention. I watched him sadly knowing that this would be the last time I would ever see him. I slowly walked towards him wary of the people in the flying machine. He turned around, the smile on his face immediately turning into a frown.
Noah
"What's wrong?" I asked. My voice rose over the noise of the helicopter.
"This is goodbye." A tear fell down her cheek, then more followed. My heart squeezed at the thought of never seeing her again.
"No it can't be. I'll come back."
"No! You can't English aren't allowed here."
"Then come with me." I whispered desperately. She quickly looked at me, shock filled her eyes. She went back in the cave and I was afraid I wouldn't see her again.
Maya
I grabbed the paint made out of berries and wrote on the wall that I was going to leave. My eyes burned with unshed tears. I was leaving everything I loved and came to know for the person that I just met but loved with my entire heart. In a way I was betraying my tribe but I didn't care. I would never be happy again if I didn't leave but I also wouldn't be completely happy with where I was going. While I was thinking I had walked back out of the cave and towards to the person my heart yearned for. "Let's go." I said as I got into the helicopter.Years later I visited my tribe again to find out that my parents died of sickness and the one I was to marry became chief. I told why I left and the only one that understood was bir. Everyone else was disgusted and that's my story of falling in love.
