Lance's POV:
*recap* My mate had been through so much pain growing up and it was my fault.
*Flashback*
"Your highness" my father said into the phone. I continued hiding in the closet, trying to muffle my giggling. "What?!?!" My father suddenly boomed. I immediately began to cower, his alpha tone terrified me. "We will do what we can, don't worry, she will be found." He hung up the phone before walking to the door and calling for my mother. When she walked into his office, he walked to the closet I was hiding in and immediately grabbed me.
"Son, giggling gives it away every time." He said with a smile already knowing what I was going to ask. My dad was superman and there was nothing he couldn't do.
"What happened hun?" My mom asked my dad as she took me from his arms. He kissed her on the forehead while I made a face. Kissing is gross.
"Princess Aria was taken from the palace."
"No!" My mom said, nearly dropping me. "Isn't she supposed to inherit Cassiel?"
"Yes, but the palace was attacked and in the confusion apparently a hunter slipped under the radar as a servant and kidnapped her. Azra is throwing a fit and insists on them going to find her sister."
"Who's Aria mommy?" I asked softly.
My mother looked at me with the utmost kindness as the sadness filled her eyes. "Aria is a princess and she was destined to rule over all of Europe along with her sister once she grew up."
"What happened?" I asked. I clearly didn't pay any attention growing up.
"Those hunters stole her. You know the ones we are constantly trying to evade. Apparently they snuck into the palace and stole the princess."
"What will we do?" I asked as I played with the end of mommy's braid.
"We have some of the best trackers in the land, so we are going to send them out and they are going to scour the land and try to find the princess or any possible lead to her." My father said. Within seconds, 14 men were in the room, they were 14 out of our 15 best trackers.
"Where is..." my father started before pausing. "I forgot, he went to help a neighboring pack for the day. I'll inform him when he gets back. I need all of you to do your best. The princess was taken by Claire and Hank Ledgeston, we all know that they are ruthless and if we are found our pack will be obliterated. Please, use caution when looking and if you happen to find their hideout, please report back immediately! We will inform the royal family and send help to try and extract the princess. If you are caught, you know they will use magic to get answers out of you so you know what you will have to do." My father said. I didn't understand what he was referring too but all the men nodded. "Now..." He led them to the table and started to point where they should be going when mom took me out of the room.
"That's grownup talk, you don't need to know about that just yet." She said as she packed me down the hall toward the kitchen. "How does a grilled cheese sound?" Mom asked. I giggled, excited because grilled cheese are my favorite food. She set me down on a chair while she got the stuff to make our sandwiches.
"Mommy?" I asked.
"Yes sweetheart?" She answered, not turning away from spreading butter on the bread before putting it in the skillet.
"Why would the hunter's want to kidnap the princess? She won't inherit her wolf until she meets her mate right?" I asked.
"Where did you learn that?" My mother immediately stopped and turned to looked at me.
