You have worked under Cinder and Roman Torchwick for quite some times now as a hacker and sometimes go out of your way to eliminate those who was on their blacklist. Your job was well-paid, the folks don't ask about your work ethics or your past, you gained a firm position in the gang and nobody besides Emerald has been able to be close to you. Exactly what you wanted in the first place. Why? Well, because you and that peppermint-haired girl were childhood friends. Your encounter was somehow unusual, to be remembered.
_____
"Hey! Stop that thief!"

A man's voice echoed 5 ft ahead of you when you were walking out of a dead-end alley after a smuggling break, then bumped into a small child - about a few years younger in age - clutching a baguette in her dirtied hands and ragged clothes. The impact caused both of you to fall down and by the Dust ... you thought you had an instant crush the moment your eyes settled on her. Despite how silly that sounds.

Lied on top of you was the most mesmerizing thief you ever met in your years of being a scoundrel. She is a young girl with medium-brown skin and dark-red eyes. Her hair is a light, mint-green cut with a straight fringe and bangs, as well as two long locks on each side, in the back. Her outfit maybe ragged and disheveled, but it didn't make her any less cute when your eyes locked for a brief moment, and you could feel your heart made a quick jump when she immediately stood up with a flustered face, as you offered her a hand to standup and hid your embarrassment with a cough. For a moment, you almost forgot how to function as a human being. Damn that pretty face and her alluring charm. She's sure no ordinary thief alright, you will give her that.

Blood red eyes then peered up fearfully as she attempted to move past you, only to be caught by the wrist and yanked backwards by the angry shopkeeper who had been chasing closely to her. The guy was even holding a wooden bat. Uh-oh. Poor thing is gonna be in trouble for that baguette she stole. Not that you would let it happen. You were always a sucker when it comes to cute girls such as this little angel in front of you. The world is harsh, and she only did what she could to survive. Just like Roman and Neo, your friends.

"Here."

Before things can escalate, you stepped forward then dropped thrice the liens of the baguette's price into the shopkeeper's hand and sheltered the girl behind you by moving an arm to block her from such wrath, feet moving backwards to put some distance between the two. The fuming guy eyes dilated in confusion, suddenly stopped in his movement at the money in his palm.

"...What the hell is this?"

You could feel her body pushed closer to you, mostly since there's no where to run, and might be because of the wooden bat still rising above the shopkeeper's head.

"I'm buying that baguette. And please accept the excessive liens for the troubles she caused."

Remained stoic and spoke in a calm voice, you used your height advantage to completely shield the girl from his owlish gaze.

Surprised visibly by your action, he lowered the bat and made a grunt at the little girl who is now clutching at the hem of your shirt.

"Tch...You are lucky this time, you brat."

Spit out venoms in his last words, the man took the money and walked back to his bread shop, leaving the two of you alone in the narrow alley. That's a relief. You turned to the little girl behind you, and took out an apple from your coat without a word. She stared at the offer cautiously, before reaching out to take it.
