Beacon Academy. A school designed to train the most powerful of fighters. Creator of many legends. The beginning of the next chapter of my life.
I've waited a long time for this opportunity. I've trained long and hard, enduring so much discrimination because of my faunus heritage. But it's all paying off.
The flight to Beacon Academy was exhilarating. The landscape and the sight of the city was breathtaking.
I did a couple of rolls in the air, a smile gracing my face. The wind in my hair, lifting my wings higher, the speed, the prospect of a new life. All of it. All of it. This is where I belong. A place where I don't have to be scared for my safety every single day. A place where I can start anew.
I caught up to the air ships carrying the rest of Beacon's new students. Filled with joy I did barrel rolls, flips, and tricks, taking sharp dives and climbing back up. Passengers on the air ships started laughing, calling their friends to come watch my antics. I noticed their happy and amused faces, appeasing them with even more aerial stunts.
When the Academy came into sight I saw the passengers turn their attention to screens appearing inside the ships. I fixed my vision on the fantastical building in front of me, putting more power into my wings and quickly closing the gap between me and the landing zone.
As soon as my feet touched the concrete ground endless joy raced through my body. The grounds just somehow made me feel at home, that I would be safe here. That I'll be free, away from the heavy discrimination. It was so hard for me to contain all my emotions. The relief and happiness were so powerful. It took all my willpower to keep myself from shouting and dancing or whatever weird thing would happen due to all the energy coursing through my veins.
Teachers started calling over the early arrivers - those that had means of getting there without the use of air ships, mainly aerial faunus. They explained to us how to get to the main hall, leaving us to our own devices. Some of the faunus immediately took back to the skies. I stayed on the ground. I wanted to relish this moment for as long as I could.
I strolled along the paths on the ground, admiring the architecture, trying to comprehend that I was finally here.
After a walk that seemed too short I finally arrived at the main building. Lots of people were milling around now, faunus and human. I've always read and heard about how faunus-friendly this school was, but seeing it in person was awe-inspiring.
Students from the air ships started arriving outside the main building just a few moments later. Out of habit I stayed back away from the non-faunus people, just observing. The two species seemed to be mingling pretty well. Laughing, hugging, greeting each other. Some even holding hands or kissing.
This is what I came to Beacon Academy for.
To be accepted. Not to be judged for what I am.
A smile spread across my features.
     I'm free.
