"Hang on, guys, I gotta check on Tori."
She would've heard the door open if she hadn't been fast asleep in his bed. Brian, Tori's boyfriend of a little over five years, smiled softly as he closed the open novel that she held, setting it on the bedside table of the hotel room. He then reached for her laptop to which her headphones were still connected to exit out of the apps until he saw what tab it was on. The page opened was the website he had showed her when they had become friends- a website she used for background noise to focus. He repositioned the laptop on the bedside table next to the novel and unplugged the earbuds, turning down the speaker's volume so it wouldn't wake her.
Placing a gentle kiss on her forehead, he whispered a low "I love you" before stepping back out of the room to leave his girlfriend to sleep.
