Looking down at the concrete jungle of a busy city from high up among the clouds never gets old. At this altitude, the rush of cool winds – sharpened blades that graze the skin and make it numb – evoke a kind of exhilaration that sends a bolt of pure delight down one's spine.
The people below seem minuscule in size as they hurry along the streets, ducking in and out of the buildings that line the city and loom over every corner.
Today, Camila's eyes are blue – her irises a perfect match with the clear blue skies that hang over the cityscape as an ever-changing tapestry.
Camila floats among the clouds, where the sun's rays still shine. She's made sure to hover in an area high enough that she can't be seen by any humans below, however curious they are in a skyward perusal.
She observes the bustling city below, honing her hearing into specific parts of the metropolitan areas – there's a radius of the city in which crime rates have been rising exponentially, so much so that she'd almost been unable to prevent severe casualties in recent times.
Seeing as there are no immediate threats of crime or otherwise issues among the city's population this morning, Camila quickly makes a mental note to check up on neighbouring towns and urban areas later in the day.
Her next task is to do what she can for those around the poorer areas, on the outskirts of society – she's become familiar with the families and communities that need help the most and makes sure to check in with them daily.
Camila closes her eyes, clear blue irises disappearing as she tries to shift focus into her mind's eye.
Slowly, colours begin to bloom within the darkness behind her eyelids – she sees a family of four living in a small unit. The apartment complex is dilapidated, and the surrounding areas seem barren and stripped of any of the luxuries – luxuries that are plentiful on the other side of the metropolis.
Camila pauses, sobered as she stares down at the family of four through her mind's eye – how unfair this life is, she thinks, that some live in gold and riches while others struggle to put food on the table.
She centres herself once again, allowing the buzz of the city to fade to a quiet drone in her ears. In her mind's eye, she sees the largest supermarkets of the city, loading produce into trucks to be sent to landfill.
A closer look allows Camila to see that the supermarkets are choosing to throw away fresh produce with only the smallest imperfections – a bump in a tomato, a slightly longer-than-usual chicken egg – and she knows there are those who could benefit from the produce that the markets seem to dismiss like litter.
In her mind's eye, Camila sees the clean, green aura that the fresh produce emits, and with the powers of divinity, she is able to move the food into the empty fridges and onto the dinner tables of families on the outskirts of the city.
She observes each home closely and with fond familiarity, making sure to give enough to each; more for the family with three kids, gluten-free bread for the elderly woman with coeliac disease, fresh vegetables and lentils for the family with an iron deficient daughter, and so on until Camila has provided enough food to last each home for the next few days.
