I ran away from my home, away from the monster that just killed my mom. Right in front of my very eyes, my stepfather Gabe, or Smelly Gabe, as I liked to call him, stabbed my mom in a drunken rage. I watched him do this from my bedroom, the door cracked open enough for me to peak through. Once I saw what happened, I ran to my window, opened it, and climbed down the fire escape.

Once my feet hit the pavement, I took off in a sprint, and ended up where I am now. On a deserted dirt crossroads. I stood in the centre of the crossroads as I fell to my knees, crying out in grief, and pain from running for so long.

"Help me!" I cried, "somebody help me. Take away the pain!" I continued telling into the open air. "I'll do anything, just help me," I begged, much quieter now.

"Anything you say?" An accented voice asked from behind me. I turned around to see a tall man, dressed in a black and white suit.

"Who are you?" I asked through sniffles.

"Well, I'm Lucifer Morningstar of course!" He said in a joyous tone. I cocked my head to the side, confused.

"Who?" I asked again, not recognizing the name. This Lucifer guy, sighed deeply before speaking.

"The Devil, you know. Satan, the King of Hell, Punisher of All Evil!" He said, naming his many titles, extravagantly. But I was in shock after the second word he said. "The Devil," I mumbled to myself. "I've heard of you," I replied.

"Oh great!" He replied happily, "So, back to the reason you called me here," he said, "you looking to make a deal?" He asked, "One to take away your pain, I'm guessing," he continued.

"Yes, I need you to take away my pain," I replied, thinking about my mom.

"Okay, what do you have to offer?" Lucifer responded.

I started thinking, I left all of my belongings at home where Smelly Gabe was, so I couldn't go back and get them; I didn't have anything to give him. "Um, I don't really have anything to give you, mister," I said.

Lucifer chuckled, "Oh please, call me Lucifer," he replied joyously, "and you do have something that I want. Something really special,"

"Really?" I asked, curious, "What is it?" Lucifer started walking towards me, stopping just in front of me. He bent over and placed his hand in the middle of my chest.

"Your soul, of course, you've got quite a powerful one," he said, eyes closed, "yes, I very powerful one, I can feel it right now,"

"Uum," I crawled backwards a few feet, "what do you mean?" I asked, a little freaked out.

"What I'm talking about, is a deal. Your soul, for me to take away your pain," Lucifer replied.

"That seems a little one-sided, don't you think?" I asked, feeling like I was about to be taken advantage of, and not in a sexual way.

Lucifer sighed and stood up straight, "Agh, you're right, of course," he then wrapped one arm around his torso and placed his other arm on it, his hand on his chin, as he started mumbling to himself about what else he could offer me, "Aha!" He exclaimed, "how about I turn you into a demon? Your pain will disappear, and you won't have to live by humanities rules," he proposed, "and best of all, you'll get powers,"

I immediately perked up at that, "Powers, really?" I asked, hoping that he was serious.

"Why of course," he replied, a smile on his face, showing off his pearly white teeth. "But first, I'll need a feel of your soul," he said.

"What do you mean?" I asked. Lucifer looked at me, stepping closer once again. "Don't worry, it won't hurt, I just need to touch your forehead," he reassured me.
