I didn't mean to start the fire, it just happened. Like so many other times, I'm the one to blame for something i don't think I have any control over. I can't help myself, I don't know what's wrong with me. My brother says it's because I'm 'just a good kid who has bad things happen to'. He's sweet but it's not true, I am the cause of what happens, but I don't know why. My name is Amelia and I started the fire that killed my parents.
I'm sixteen years old and now living with my brother John, he's eighteen so technically he can watch me without all the legal issues. We live in a small apartment on Baker St. in England, it's rainy and dark almost all the time, but I love this place. It's home. My main goal for this year, is to hopefully not burn this building down and keep us alive. I have this problem, I'm not sure what exactly it is yet, but I don't think anyone would like it. I have this tendency to be really REALLY warm, like all the time. I tend to get asked if I can keep others warm actually, but sometimes this warmth gets a little dangerous; like fire dangerous. There's been times that I notice it sparks my hands and there's a match flame on my fingers. I don't like it, at all.
I'm in the fifth year at school and I love my friends, they keep me calm and look out for me; and I for them any day. Alex and Lily are almost ALWAYS together, if they're seen apart it's almost like the world ended. Alex has blonde hair and an almost dorky way about him, I can definitely see why Lily likes him. Lily is always in the latest fashion, no matter what it is, she has it. She has brown hair and the kindest smile. Her green eyes light up the room, match perfectly with Alex's dark brown eyes. Kat and Kitana are twins, they're a little odd but the sweetest girls you'll ever meet. They mean well always, they are there when you need them and the funniest jokers. They both have strawberry blonde hair and green eyes, very identical but you can always tell the difference when they're together. Kat is a much more light hearted and 'happy go lucky' kind of person. Kit (Short of Kitana) is much more quiet and solemn; not sad but just reserved. Kit has her nose in the books, while Kat is always listening to music and slightly dancing to herself. They're the cutest people when you get to know them.
Then there's Christopher, and he is absolutely perfect in every way. He's kind, sweet, funny, and he always has this way of making me smile no matter what. But we're not a 'thing', at least not yet. He has got one of the most perfect smiles, that crooked smirk, and when he laughs it could make flowers bloom. Although, he seems sad most of the time but no one knows why. He has bright blue eyes that can pierce right through you, but what's odd is he has brown, almost black, hair. That's pretty rare right? His face is riddled with freckles and he has the cutest dimples. He's almost always wearing some kind of plaid shirt with his leather jacket and jeans. He has a real 'bad boy' look, makes me just swoon. We seem to just gravitate towards each other though, almost like it was planned that he'd be my friend.
I was getting ready for school, like a regular day; my brother still in his pajamas and ruffled blonde hair from just waking up. John gave me a lunch and a kiss on the forehead, like mum always did, and sent me off. It was a little chilly outside, considering it was the start of winter and snow was starting to fall on the ground; but I wasn't cold, just like always. I tried not to slip on the ice when I was walking down the stairs but just up the street I saw Kat and Kit walking on the way to school. The twins looked beautiful, as always, they were wearing matching blue and purple shirts and converse.
"Hey guys!" I shouted, and ran to catch up with them.
"Amelia, hi! How was your weekend?" Kat asked. She wrapped her arms around me and gave me a hug, which was not unusual.
"It was fine, I had a harder time this Saturday because it's been a year since..." I could never finish that part. Trying to pull away from the hug did me no good since that only made Kat hold me closer.
