Broken Reality (A Spoken Word Poem)

Change was predictable but not my life,

As it all went flashing right before my eyes

I'm trying to build up my broken years,

But then I realize that its the man that it made me when I stand in front of a mirror

Got rid of all those insinuations put by society,

Got a new attitude and bought some new ideologies

Never knew the importance of cussing so much until I saw the real world,

Only knew if you fought the wave you would end up in crutch

It's not long before you realize that when mama said ''Honey, you are beautiful''

She meant believe in yourself even when they say ''You are not supposed to'' cause ''You are one of those too''

It is too harsh when you realize that the world you thought you'd grown in was just a mirage

And today's type of beauty is just to be camouflaged.
