Chapter One
Being the new girl has always been the struggle for me. Because of my dad's job, my family and I relocate to different cities basically every year and I've gotten used to not getting used to things so quickly. It’s funny because we’re actually from New York, but we’ve been living in Australia because of my dad’s job ever since I was 13.
It’s actually tolerable moving from city to city because I got a lot of traveling in, seeing much of the attractions Australia had to offer. I would also leave everything I hated about the city we lived in. Like when we were living in Newcastle, we lived next to a party animal who would always come home at 3 in the morning, drunk with a different girl in his arms. You could practically hear her screams from a mile away. I was so glad we left that place.
But being the new girl is something I can never escape. Everywhere I went, that was my label. Sure I had a couple friends at school, but I was usually just a third wheel. “Oh, you wouldn’t get it. It happened last year.” “Look it’s the new girl.” “You’re probably new around here, right?” Fitting in is actually really hard. I guess some things in life just can’t be avoided.
Well, this year we got relocated to Sydney and my dad said it would be the last year we would move for a while. I didn’t know whether to be pleased or discontented. I could finally shake off the new girl label right? Not moving though? That’s a big change. But I guess, change is good, right?

"Don't waste your time on me you're already the voice inside my head. I miss you, I miss you.” My alarm repeated.
I groaned. Is it Monday already?
I smacked my phone until my alarm stopped, falling back asleep.
*20 MINUTES LATER*
"MARGAUX WAKE UP OR YOU’RE GONNA BE LATE!” My mom screamed.
I reach for my phone and check the time. 7:45?!?!? Shit! Only 15 minutes to get ready and be at school ON TIME!
I shot up from my bed and went to my bathroom. I splashed my face with cold water to wake myself up then went back to my room to throw on denim shorts, a plain maroon shirt and my maroon vans. At this point, I honestly don't give a crap about what I wear to school. After getting my snapback, my longboard and my backpack, I grabbed an apple from the kitchen counter and rushed out the door.
“BYE MOM THANKS FOR MAKING ME LATE!” I screamed before slamming the door.
I placed my longboard down on the road and started to board down the road to my school. After taking a bite out of my apple, my phone started to ring. I ignored it, already knowing who it was, and boarded down the smooth road faster. When it started to ring again, I answered knowing that she’ll keep calling until I do.
