I know, I know, another short chapter, but not because of writer's block this time. There's just some stuff that comes immediately after after this which I didn't want to include in this chapter. Please comment!
When Elise felt light emitting from just above her head, it didn't surprise her. She'd often do random things with light, from making the electric lights flicker to turning invisible. Elise was not concerned about finding out how she did this, but she didn't know anyone else who could.
So she saw the ground illuminated beneath her, and grinned sheepishly.
"Sorry, that happens sometimes."
The others stared at her.
"I don't know what your talking about, but that doesn't happen to the same person more than once. You just got claimed!" said Annabeth.
"What! By who?"
"Apollo."
"That explains a lot."
"Explains what?"
"Well, Apollo's the sun god, right? Well that could also mean just light in general. Often, I can manipulate light. Sometimes the lights flicker, I can cause stuff like hallucinations. I've made myself go invisible as well."
Annabeth was thinking hard. "No," she muttered, "It can't be... No mortal has ever..."
"What?"
Annabeth seemed to come back to earth with a thump. "Now's not the time! I, for one, am going to bed. Walk me back to my cabin Percy?"
"Sure," he said uncertainly. They walked off, talking earnestly.
Elise saw her chance. "I'm going to bed too guys, night! Apollo cabin's the gold one, right Selene?" She nodded her head, none of the others seemed suspicious. Elise ran off, silently following Percy and Annabeth.
"I don't know Percy... If it's true, Elise could be in so much danger..."
"Look, there's no point worrying about it now. If I were you, I'd go back to your cabin and try to sleep, we can discuss this in the morning with Elise. Goodnight Annabeth." said Percy, planting a kiss on her forehead as she turned and went into the Athena cabin.
Elise walked to the Apollo cabin with her mind a blur. So many questions were whirling around in her head, it was hard to keep track of them all. What was wrong with her? Why did Annabeth think she was in danger? Was it to do with her control over light? This was all she could think about as she went to sleep that night.
