Chapter 13

For the first time since we left the Division all of us slept past the sun rising and we were all slow to get up. After the long day of travel before we were all exhausted. Now that we had caught up on our sleep more than we had in the past week and a half we were really getting along as we packed up our things to head out for the day.

We went out to breakfast first and we actually went in and sat down and ate together for the first time since we started out on our journey. I have to say I was enjoying getting along with them and didn’t miss the arguing at all. Once we finished breakfast, we explored the city a little bit before Arnold got more anxious about finding the library. I swear, if he could live in a library, he would.

Although, Louis and I went sure how a library was going to help us find Lisa Campbell. Arnold probably just had some burning research he wanted to try and uncover. You could always see in his eyes when he got excited about something and couldn’t wait to uncover the mystery behind it. It didn’t take us too long to find a library, but I’m pretty sure when we did we were all amazed by how big it was. Arnold, of course, did some research and then decided it was time we search harder Lisa Campbell.

“Why don’t we just ask someone?” Louis asked.

“We can’t just waltz up to some random person and start asking about her. Do you want us to seem suspicious?” Arnold said as if he couldn’t believe that thought had even crossed through Louis’ mind. The boys begin to argue again, trying to keep it in hushed tones since we’re in the library and I was just beginning to enjoy the peace too. I had to stop them from bickering before it got too loud and eventually we decided to go outside.

“Guys really?” I said, interrupting them, “This is dumb!”

“Fine. I’ll settle it,” Louis said, starting to walk back into the library.

“Where are you going?” I called after him.

“To ask the librarian where Lisa Campbell is,” he called, still walking into the library. Arnold and I shot each other a quick glance before we chased after him. We followed him up to the desk, but stayed behind to listen to what he said, Arnold poised in a position ready to jump in if he felt the conversation was taking a wrong turn.

“Excuse me,” Louis cleared his throat.

“Yes,” the woman looked up from her computer, “How can I help you?”

“I was just,” he started. Arnold was about to intervene, but I gave him a look and he stopped, “I’m actually looking for someone.”

           “Okay…” She sounded confused.

“I was just wondering if you knew her and could help me find her.”

“Who are you looking for?” She asked.

           “Her name is Lisa Campbell.”

“Lisa Campbell?” Louis nodded, “I know her.”

“That’s so great,” he smiled, “Can you tell where I could find her?”

She looked reluctant, “Why do you need to know where she is?”

“I, uh…” He was stumbling for words again, “She’s the one looking for her son right?” Arnold shook his head and rolled his eyes. I could tell Louis was nervous.
