HI! My name is Addison and this is my first story. Don't get me wrong, this is my first story on Wattpad. I write a lot. I hope you enjoy this and the picture next to the story is how I approximately see the main character, Lara.

"One, two, three. A grand jete!"

"Good Miss Lexington. That was perfect. I believe you are ready."

I sighed with relief. That was my dance teacher/instructor/choreographer, Ms. Chang. I've known her...well since forever. I'm Lara. That's pronounced Lah-rah. Just putting it out there. Right now I'm so relieved that finally I got my audition routine down perfectly.

You see, in the next two weeks my schedule will be incredibly rigorous because I'm auditioning for the most prestigious dance schools in the country. Julliard. In New York City. So much pressure, but it's okay. I want this...really bad. If I can't get in, I don't know what I'd do. I think I've been training for this opportunity my whole life. I'm a senior at Academy Endeavor High School...which means I've been dancing for fifteen years.

"Lara?"

"Yes, Ms. Chang?"

"You are dismissed. Tomorrow at 8:00 AM sharp." She sternly says. I nod and head towards the door.

"Oh and Lara?"

I turn around. "Think about your routine tonight. Dare to forget your moves tomorrow, and I'll personally make your life miserable." I shiver at the thought of what kind of conditioning she'd make me do. I nod politely and speed walk away.

As soon as I enter the changing rooms I hear my phone buzzing. I pick it up and see a message.

Meet me at my house in ten...it's urgent please!!!!!!!!!

-Grace

The text really got me concerned as I quickly replied OK. I changed as fast as I could which was a struggle because this leotard becomes difficult take off when sweaty. After my two minute change I ran out of the studio and into my 2010 Chrysler Sebring convertible. I drive the five-minute drive to my neighborhood and park by my best friend's house. She opens the door when she notices me and we go up the stairs and into her room.

"Grace...are you okay? Please, I hope this isn't one of your fashion emergencies."

"It's not." I noticed she started tearing up.

"Hey...hey...hey. What's wrong? Tell me! Did you and Dylan break up?"

She shook her head. "No...no...but it has to do with him." I sat her down on her bed and hugged her.

"What?"

She got up and took something from her vanity desk and brought it to me. I gasped once I realized what it was.

"Wh-why would you? And are you?" I was speechless.

"I need you to tell me if two pink lines mean that I am... or...I couldn't read the instructions because I'm crying everytime I look at it. Please tell me it isn't true. Please."

I couldn't believe it. My best friend who's younger than me is carrying a living being inside of her.

She sat back down and put her face between her knees as she curled up. "Oh god. No. It was one time. It was his birthday. We've been dating for a year and a half...it was only natural for us to finally...be together. And...this! What am I going to do? My life is over! I'm supposed to go to UCLA...And oh my god! My parents! What are they gonna say? It's going to be s-"

"Okay okay! Let's not think about that. Did you tell Dylan?" I asked. She shook her head.

"You have to tell him."

She took out her phone and started texting. My eyes tried to track each letter she typed but it was too fast. "I hope you're asking him to meet you."

"Of course." She stopped crying. I put my hand on her back and rubbed it to show I was supporting her and comforting her.

"Grace, whatever you do, I will stand by you and will be there for you...okay?"

She smiled and immediately hugged me which made me feel like a really good person and friend.

"After you tell Dylan, text me his reaction. I got to go. My mom is probably worried about where I am." I walked out of her room and down the stairs as she followed me.

"You just got out of the studio...didn't you? She knows you are on your way." Grace said. She waved goodbye as I got into my car and drove about 80 yards and arrived to my house. I pulled into the garage and found my little brother working on his future motorcycle helmet. He's an amazing artist. He uses air brushes to create wonderful art on all kinds of things. I almost let him design my car. Almost.

"Hi Gary. Nice work." He just looked up and gave me a nod. Is he trying to be cool? Ugh, sophomores. I like the freshmen better. I walked into the house to find it smelling so wonderful. I could smell freshly cooked lamb and sweet potatoes. I stayin the hallway for about thirty seconds to enjoy the yummy scent. I then walk by the kitchen where the scent grew stronger obviously and see my mom taking out the lamb from the oven.

"Hey!" She smiles. "How was practice?"

"It was great. I love what you're doing here." I giggled.

"Oh, kicking Paula Deen's butt at cooking? I know." She grinned while preparing the side dishes. "Go change and come back for dinner. It's a special occasion."

I looked at her in confusion but just went upstairs anyway. After changing into white shorts and a purple and white striped sweater I skipped downstairs. I did a quick pirouette in my socks before I sat down in my usual seat at the family table. Gary was already seated in front of me and my father was coming down the stairs. "Well, hello to both of you."

He sat down next to us as my mother finally came and put the lamb in the middle of the table. She sat down a minute later.

"What are we celebrating?" Gary asked. He was wearing a polo shirt with khakis.

"We are celebrating the fact that your father has gotten a huge promotion." My mother announced. Gary and I both looked at my father in astonishment. He grinned. "Now, this means that we can afford Lara's part of the scholarship-- when she gets one and if it isn't paid fully. Also, this means we can add more to your college bank account, Gary."

Gary smiled. "Thank you, dad. I really appreciate this."

I too, thanked him. He cleared his throat. "However, the promotion requires us moving. To Virginia."

I could feel my jaw dropping. "What?"

"Don't worry. This will happen after Lara graduates and is off to college. You will spend the rest of your high school in Virginia, Gary. I'm sorry but that's the way it is."

I sighed but I knew this would be hard for Gary. He had so many friends here and he was already on the football, swim and lacrosse varsity team. I immediately felt bad. I looked upon Gary who just stared at his empty clean plate. He looked as if he was about to dash upstairs. I wouldn't be surprised. I would have done so.

"Okay."

My mother sneaked a look at my father as if to say "What the hell?"

Again, my father cleared his throat. "Let's eat, shall we?"

After dinner I received a text from Grace. She told Dylan. Apparently he was shocked at first and then he broke down. Grace explained how he was crying and talking to himself saying "What am I gonna do?" etc.

I text her back. " Well, now you need to tell your parents."

"You're right. I will do it now."

It was late and I couldn't believe how tired I was. Next thing I know I'm waking up in the middle of the night with a phone call.
