Nobody notices my hard work said the woman.
I work hard all day long, cleaning, babysitting, and doing bills,
only to be met by disregarding children and a husband tired from work.
All I want is for my achievements to be recognised, to be rewarded.
Nobody understands the stress of school said the woman.
I constantly study only to get a less than satisfactory grade.
Disappointed parents breathing down your back and punishing you,
taking away your possessions for trying your best.
Nobody knows the pain of depression said the woman.
Chronic sadness continues to enclose me in its blackened claws.
Being rendered helpless as it slowly clamps down on my life.
Continually striving to be released from the claws, but never achieving it.
Nobody cares about me or my children said the other woman.
I work loads of part time jobs so I can attempt to feed my children,
and when I get home I am met with a drunk abusive husband.
Hope is all I have for a better future, not for myself, but my children.
Nobody understands the stress of gender roles said the other woman.
A world where women only provide children and housework.
A society where women are forbidden to learn.
A household where beating a woman is justifiable.
Nobody knows the pain of a hungry child said the other woman.
Watching your own flesh and blood wail in pain,
Simply asking for basic nutrients, vital for life.
Sadness and anger gripping at my heart as tears start to roll,
For I am unable to fulfill these cries of hunger and thirst
I gladly hand over my food to my slowly dying children.
The only edible food I've seen in months, graciously accepted.
The happiness on their faces is what keeps me striving to do better,
to work harder and longer to deliver that one scrap of food.
Scraps of food which bring tears to my eyes and joy in my children.
