Chapter 6

"Cheater! You are a cheater, Cole! That was so unfair!" Reed is still arguing when we get home. I roll my eyes for the fifth time as I grab some grocery bags, carrying them in the house.
"Guys, cool it. We'll do another race, okay? You and Cole," I say to Reed. "See who can put all the groceries away the quickest."
"You're on. I got this," Cole says, brushing his shoulders off and smirking. Oh he's so gullible.
John Luke's arms suddenly encircle my waist and I smile as his chin lands on my shoulder.
"Wanna go to your house?" He whispers.
"And do what?" I ask softly. He makes eye contact with me and wiggles his eyebrows. My cheeks blush.
"Watch a movie? Of course," I say, pushing away and trying to cool my hormones. "Everyone is welcome to come to my house for a movie," I say. No one moves. "Careful, guys. Don't rush to get to my house. That's alright. Obtain your excitement," I tease.
"I'm going to chat with Maverick, so I'm just going to see y'all tomorrow," Sadie says, walking to the living room. Cole and Reed are still putting up groceries. Lil Will and the children are upstairs, aleep I assume since there's no noise.
"Let's go, baby," John Luke tugs on my hand. I smile.
"Okay, JL," I follow him next door. I pull the key out of my pocket. "Daddy?" Not home. Right. "Go pick a movie." I walk to the kitchen, putting a bag of popcorn in the microwave. I grab a big bowl and two root beers, leaning against the counter to wait for the popcorn. When the popping subsides, I grab it and empty it into the bowl.
"What'd you pick?" I ask, carrying the food and drinks to the living room.
"The House at the End of the Street," JL smirks when I stop in my tracks.
"That's scary, right?" I ask. He nods. I roll my eyes. "Fine. But it's your fault if I have a nightmare tonight." His eyes soften and I know it's because I've had nightmares about my sister before. "Kidding," I say to ease his worries. He sits by me on the couch. Too close, buddy. I try scooting, but he wraps an arm around my waist and pulls me to his side. I shake my head, looking at the side of his face. How'd I get so lucky? He's so funny and handsome and tan and tall and kind and adorable and caring and compassionate and wise-
"Are you going to stare at me or watch the movie?" JL whispers. Despite my flaming cheeks, I give a lazy grin.
"I don't know. My view is pretty amazing right now," I say, staring into his brown eyes. He's so good looking. I bite my lip and a sudden noise emits from the back if his throat. Before I can comment, his lips are molding with mine. They move is sync. His lips are soft and smoothe. They fit with mine like pieces of a puzzle. I lean forward, discarding the popcorn. I hear it tumble towards the ground, but I make no move to pick it up.
John Luke pushes me back on the couch an I kick my legs out so we are stretched out. When I can't breathe anymore, I pull away. He trails hot kisses down my neck, to my collarbone. My eyes close as his fingers lightly brush the sliver of skin exposed beneath my shirt. His cool hands feel amazing against my warm stomach. His lips attack my throat with bites and kisses.
"JL," I whisper as he tugs his shirt off. Oh, baby. Geez. My fingertips barely skim over his chest and abdomen before he presses his lips to mine again. My shirt is discarded with his, as well as my bra. Then, I'm uncomfortable. I try to her my chest, but JL grabs my wrists and pulls them away.
"You're beautiful," he whispers, kissing me again and again. He trails kisses to my jaw and ears. His hands rest on the waistband of my pants a his eyes lock onto mine, asking for permission. I nod. He inches them down slowly, but before they can come off, the front door opens. JL and I look like deer caught in the headlights.
"Kaysie? Surprise!"
