Lonna stomped angrily out of the kitchen as she glared at the door. "What time is it? Why isn't mom home yet?" She wiped her hands roughly on the apron she was wearing before making her way back to the stove. She grabbed some utensils to stir the ramen she had been making. She leaned in to blow on the spoon, to cool the broth before tasting it.
"Making noodle? No leeks, I hate leeks." The sudden voice scared Lonna making her blow harder than she meant to. The broth ended up splashing up into her face and inside her nose. Her hair was now all in her face. She turned around in a rage.
"Hey! What are you doing in my house?!" She screamed at a smiling Suga. She used her sleeve to wipe the liquid off her face.
"Dad's on a business trip. I came for dinner. Door wasn't locked." He said.
"Then you should ring the bell!" Suga nodded before starting to walk off, but Lonna stopped him by grabbing his arm. "Mom isn't home yet, so noodles are just a quick fix." She felt slightly embarrassed making him eat them. Although she didn't know why.
"I don't care. I will eat what you eat. I'm going to watch TV."
"Hey! Can you not act like this is your home!" Lonna was frustrated with how nonchalant he was acting.
"Concentrate on the noodles. Remember what Dad said, a cook's efforts can transfer happiness." Lonna's jaw dropped open at the fact he actually remembered that. Suga took off his school bag and tossed it haphazardly on the floor as he fell on the couch lazily. "Besides I don't want to eat a bowl of disgusting noodles."
Lonna gave up her anger for now as she went back to the stove. Suga put his arms behind his head and whistled noisily. Lonna could tell just by looking at him, he was trying to annoy her. 'How can he act as if nothing happened? Not considerate of anyone else's feelings.'
After the noodles were done, Lonna and Suga sat beside each other to eat. Lonna watched as Suga grabbed his utensils. "They are still hot, so be careful."
"You're my noona, not a maid, so don't be annoying, ok?" Suga said before starting to eat. The depressed look came back on Lonna's face as she prepared herself to talk about the subject she more than anything wanted to avoid.
"Is Jisoo ok?"
Suga didn't look at her as he continued to eat while answering her. "Sprained ankle, a few cuts and bruises. She won't die."
"She used to be bullied alot, right?" Lonna stared at Suga.
"RM must have been jabbering. Why does he talk so much?" Suga still avoided Lonna's stares.
"He said...you use to protect her with everything you had." At those words, Suga finally looked up from his food.
"Every time I see Jisoo, I tense up. Because she'd always brag, and purposely distanced herself from others." Lonna felt jealous of the soft expression that Suga was once again showing. "I think she never planned on accepting anyone. The way I used to be."
"So you have no choice but to want to protect her." The expression on Lonna's face saddened. Suga huffed in amusement as he finally looked at her.
"What? Are you jealous?"
"Jealous?" Lonna instantly changed her expression to a fake look of amusement, hoping Suga wouldn't notice. "Jealous? As if that was possible." Lonna laughed weirdly. Suga took the opportunity to move his face right in front of hers. Lonna was shocked by his closeness. She fought against the blush that threatened to stain her cheeks.
"What?" She asked, her fake confidence now gone.
"I think you're jealous..." Suga's eyes moved quickly to look over Lonna's face. "I should observe it carefully." Lonna could feel her heart beating faster in her chest. She feared being found out by him. On quick thinking, she jumped up and grabbed the food tray beside her, bringing it down hard on Suga's head.
Suga jumped up from his chair with his fist clenched. "Are you trying to kill me? That's made of metal!" He screamed.
"So what? There's nothing you can do about it!" Lonna screamed back as she gripped the tray close to her chest and ran past a confused Suga to her room.
"You're crazy! Hitting me and yelling at me!" Suga screamed as Lonna turned the corner almost out of sight. Not to let Suga have the last word, Lonna came back around the corner and stuck her tongue out at the boy. Suga rubbed the place where the tray had hit before sitting back in his chair. "Lunatic."
Lonna walked over to her bed and took her frustration out on the poor teddy bear that laid on her bed by smashing the tray on it. Suga's arrogant face flashed through her mind as she grabbed her cellphone and dialed the only number she knew would listen.
Krystal's POV
"Why am I so upset? He always looks like he doesn't care. And his smiling face looks right through me."
"Lonna, to put it simply, your this frustrated because you want to confirm if he actually has feelings for you." Krystal said as she played with the sink in the bathroom she was hiding in. "So why not just ask him while he is there?"
"You know I'm not that brave." Lonna whined.
"Same as always. You know the problem, so why not simplify it? Understand? So be braver, ok?" Krystal could hear voices outside the locked door, making her feel nervous. Things would be bad if she got caught skipping work to use the phone. "I'm still at work, so I have got to go. Bye. Fighting!" She whispered before hanging up.
Krystal waited till the voices were gone to leave the bathroom. She checked both ends of the hall before actually going out the door, thinking the coast was clear she plastered a smile on her face and readied herself to sneak back into the staff area like she had never left.
Suddenly, she bumped into something. The smile faded from her face as she realized what she had collided with. "He...hello, manager." Her voice came out shaky.
"You were in the washroom awhile, right?" He asked as he crossed his arms across his chest.
"Manager, you should know that every month a woman has a few days of inconvenience." Krystal used her cutest voice hoping it alone would keep her out of trouble.
"I remember you telling me you had that inconvenience last week." Her manager gave her a mocking smile.
"Oh, then I must be sick." Krystal had to think of something quickly. Plus she hoped her next excuse would help her get what she had been too afraid to ask for earlier. "Therefore, sir, I must take off tomorrow to see a doctor."
"Another day off? No." Her manager shot her down quickly. Krystal was beyond sad.
"Ah, that can't be your answer because tomorrow I have a dat..." Krystal had almost let her frustration give her true intentions away. "I mean, a date to see the doctor." To cover up her blunder she put on her best aegyo, by putting her hands up in a pleading gesture and pouted. "Please?! The most handsome and kindness manager in the city."
"Add most gullible to that list too, right?" The manager's face softened.
Krystal jumped up and down giving him a tight hug. "Thank you sir!" He watched her leave to go back to the staff area.
"If it's a date, just say it's a date. Why jinx yourself and say you're sick?" He rolled his eyes before walking in after her.
Lonna's POV
Lonna had been holding the metal tray against her face for what felt like an hour as she tried to say the words out loud. 'What if he rejects me? But what if he doesn't?' the thought alone gave her some courage. She walked out of her room before she could lose her confidence.
Her face fell as she saw Suga had already left. She walked closer to the table to see what the yellow piece of paper on the table beside his empty bowl said. She put the tray down as she picked it up.
'The noodles were disgusting, but, strangely I could taste happiness. Suga.'
Lonna couldn't keep the smile off her face as she held the note Suga left tightly. 'Is he saying I make him happy?' the smile faded. 'But what about Jisoo, what does she make him feel?'
