Waylen

Renae Marie Jones

I woke up with a pounding headache. I was laying in an unfamiliar room. I could feel someone's presents laying beside me. I quickly jumped up remembering parts of last night. I had had a lot to drink, well for me at least.

There laid O'marien. He had on basketball shorts and long Nike socks. His face was smooshed into a pillow and held a small pout. I glanced under the covers at my attire. I was in a t-shirt. I slowly got out the bed trying to wake him and looked for my phone. It read 9:12. We were late for school. I was moving too quickly trying to gather all my things only causing my headache to become worse. I slipped my pants on and my shoes. I was scared of his mom catching me leaving, but in stead I came face to face with Dre.

"Hey Renae." He smiled eating a bowl of cereal.

"Hey, why aren't you at school?" I whispered.

"I missed the bus and O' hasn't woke up yet." He stuffed his last spoon full in his mouth.

"Well come on, how about I take you?" I asked, still whispering.

"I guess." He shrugged and walked over to his bag, putting it over his shoulder.

A few minutes later D pulled up. He had a mug on his face and I knew I was about to be lectured.

We drove in silence for a little which only scared me wore. When Dorian was upset, it wasn't pretty.

"I had to cover for you Re. Told pops you slept at Mays." He mumbled. "Now you got me leaving school to come pick yo ass up. What was you doen huh? And why you got that lil boy in the back seat?" He asked. I could tell he was heated.

I looked back at Dre.

"I'm sorry D. I just lost track of the time, that's all."

"And when I text yo ass to ask where you at, cause you never came home you ain't even text me back." His voice raised a little.

I closed my eyes and rested my head. The pounding got harder.

"Was you drinkin?" He grabbed my cheeks staring at me.

"What? No. Keeps your eyes on the road D." I snatched my face away.

"Yo ass not even supposed to be going out. You gone get your ears dogged when he gets home tonight."

"Ain't nobody worried about him Dorian." I rolled my eyes, taking off my seat belt.

He mumbled something I couldn't make out and got out the car. I got out the drivers seat and watched as he walked into our school building. Sighing, I drove off to drop off Dre.

When I finally reached my house it was almost 10. I took two Tylenols to cool off my headache before I took a long hot shower. I scrubbed my body hard and washed my hair. I got out and put on a random hoodie, not caring to wear a bra underneath. I then slipped on regular blue jeans and toped it with my black Uggs. I let my wet hair hang after I brushed it and just pushed it back with a Nike headband. I didn't bother with earrings. I coated my lips with a layer of chap stick.

As I was on my way out the door I was getting an incoming call.

Hey

Wassup ma, where you at? You ain't even tell me you was leaving.

Yeah, sorry. I can't be really late. My dads already gotten on to me. I brought Dre to school this morning. He missed his bus.

I keep telling him bout that. Thank you. You at school?
