Riley's Point of view
I sit in the back of our black van, next to my twin sister, Peyton, as I watch fat raindrops ding against the dark window. Though we're identical, I've always found her more attractive than myself. Not in any sort of "Wow she's hot I think I'm in love" kind of way, I just admire the way she can look so effortlessly flawless just sitting in the back of a Sedan eating a bag of goldfish in sweatpants that probably have belonged to me at one point or another.
Adam, our manager that double times as our best friend, sits in the driver seat, eyes fixed to the radio as he switches channels every other song. He his dark hair drifts in its curly mop as his green eyes shift back to the road. I hadn't seen him for a while before this trip, and even though he's sitting 4 feet away from me, I've missed him. We've been in the car twelve hours too long.
Peyton and I travel lots for our Youtube career. We like to experience new places, new cultures and new people. The two of us are supposed to be meeting another group of Youtubers to create a special project with, which entails us spending the next 6 months living with them, trying new things every day, and documenting our crazy experiences to help us expand on what our channels were producing. The only catch; Peyton and I have no clue who these mystery people we'll be living with are. All I can think about is how much I hope we like them, otherwise, this is going to be the roughest six months of our lives. I'm not sure what to expect. I'm glad my sister is here with me...
I turn up the music in my headphones and lean my head against the window. Blonde hair is stuck to my lips, but I'm too tired and have too little energy to move. Running off Krispy Kreme is not exactly the best way to gain nutrients. Habits I've been trying to break have resurfaced as I begin to get bored and antsy again. I chew on the side of my thumb nail, even though it's perfectly filed and there's nothing wrong with it. Thunder cracks around us, shaking the windows of the car, and all I can do is slam my eyes shut and pray for our destination to arrive sooner..Peyton's Point of View
Gosh, I'm so excited. I love meeting new people, because no two people are the same. Those are the kinda things you learn when you've got a twin. Especially when your twin is prettier than you, but honestly, who cares.
I notice her looking in my direction, but not quite at me. I assume she's looking at the goldfish crackers I'm crunching loudly on, and I wish I could give her some, but, as always, we packed snacks to accomodate for her Celiac. I make eye contact with her and begin to say
"There's watermelon in the cooler," but she looks away before I'm able to finish. I bet she didn't hear me, she's blasting Bazzi through her earbuds loud enough that I'm able to hear what he's saying, but I don't ask her to turn it down, because I know how anxious she gets on car rides. Her bubbly personality diminishes to a quiet, nervous kid every time she's stepped into a car since our relatively serious car accident a year or two ago. I don't really mind it anymore, but its clear thats not the case with her. I go back to chatting with Adam, my best friend since second grade, trying to pry out the "top-secret-information" about who we're going to be living with, just Ri and I for the next few months. But alas, to no avail.
I roll my eyes and scoff for the hundredth time today as he continues to keep his lips sealed. "How about," he pauses, as if he'll finally let it slip, "never mind, only a couple more hours and you'll find out for yourself". "You're the worst," I reply, "shoulda pestered you more when we got in the car".
I guess I must've drifted off because suddenly I'm being sucked out of my sleepy state as I'm shaken awake by Riley as we pull in next to another grey car.
"Get your shoes on, we're here" she says, groggy, but seemingly relieved to be done in the car. I snatch a quick look out the window at the house. It was huge. There must be about twenty other people living here with us. I tie my black nike's and cuff my grey sweatpants so I can save myself future embarrassment of face planting on the nice sidewalk of our new black and white home. Ri is wearing virtually the same thing as me, except leggings. We sure are a sight, messy blonde buns are perched on top of our heads, her white teeshirt is much cleaner than mine, but as long as our new roomies aren't the Gordan Ramsey of looks, I'm sure we'll be alright.
Adam knocks on the door and we all assimilate next to each other on the white porch. After a few moments, footsteps approach the opposite side of the door. After a few more moments of silence, the door opens to reveal a friendly looking man who appears to be in his late 30's, seemingly just as sleep deprived as the three of us.
"Adam Gregour?" The man asks.
"That's me" Adam responds nonchalantly, "and you must be Kyle?"
"Indeed, please, come in. The boys are so excited to meet these two". Boys? Plural? Ugh, awesome. The three of us walk through the gaping archway door, and Kyle directs us to follow him. We are lead to a large, open room, neatly and aesthetically decorated with a large television mounted on one wall, and a rather large couch sitting against against the opposing wall. Two dark haired boys are sat on the couch, one sitting up flipping through channels, the other sprawled out playing on his iPhone.
"Boys," Kyle says as he clears his throat. They both look up at him, then quickly look to us. My good God, these boys are the finest I've seen in a long while. "Hi," Riley says, smiling a dimpely smile and back to her sweet personality "I'm Riley". I quickly decide it would be best to introduce myself next. "I'm Peyton" I flash a toothy smile, extra proud of my perfect teeth that I was put through years of braces for. They're both smiling, as the cuter of the two twins speaks up. "I'm Ethan" the one watching the TV pipes up. God, his voice is smooth as butter, and sweet as honey. "I'm Grayson" the other one speaks up, "It's nice to meet you two". "It's nice to meet you two, too" Riley responds, giggling. She obviously finds him just as attractive as I do his twin. This is going to be the longest six months of our lives...
