Chapter 3: A Little Lime

Addy flinched as the ultra sound technician spread the cold gel across her stomach. It was four days after she had found out and this was the earliest appointment she could get. She laid on the reclined chair with her top pulled up, Sebastian seated next to her. He had insisted on taking the afternoon off from filming, and had taken a Addy out for lunch before. His eyes were glued to the screen as the technician ran the paddle across the gel.

"Well, I'm going to say that you are twelve weeks along." The woman said, looking closely at the screen. "There's the heartbeat." She said, pointing at the screen.

Addy turned to Sebastian and he had a huge smile on his face and tears in his eyes that threatened to spill over.

"I'll give to two a moment." The woman said, excusing herself into the hallway. Once they were alone Addy laughed and hugged Sebastian. He then kissed her and they laughed together, tears in their eyes.

"How big is it" He asked, rubbing his hand across her stomach.

"Twelve weeks, I think it's about the size of a lime, if I remember correctly. " She smiled and put her hand on top of his.

"Does twelve weeks mean anything else?" He asked.

"Yeah, lots of stuff. I think it's fingers and toes start curling and it moves around, but it's not big enough for me to feel anything yet. And, we can start telling people soon, but I kind of want to tell Lex."

"We should take Lexie out for hot chocolate and tell her after school!" He said excitedly.

A nurse came back in the room, she wiped the gel off Addy's stomach and gave them pamphlets as well as a picture of the baby. Sebastian grabbed all the papers and as they took a cab to Lexie's school he lost himself reading.

They held hands as they waited outside the school and they were soon surrounded by small children in uniforms.

"Mommy!" Lexie said as she ran up and hugged Addy. "And Sebby?" She added, surprised that they were both there. She grabbed each of their hands and they walked away from the school.

"Where are we going?" Lexie asked when she realized they weren't heading towards the apartment.

"We're getting hot chocolate!" Sebastian told her as he opened the door to the coffee shop.

After letting Lexie pick any dessert she wanted they went to a nearby park to eat and drink their hot chocolate.

"Lexie, Sebastian and I have a surprise for you." Addy said, nodding to Sebastian who pulled the picture of the ultrasound out of his coat pocket. "It's something you told me you wanted last week when I tucked you in."

Lexie took the picture and studied it. "A baby brother or sister?" She asked smiling.

Addy nodded, "yup, you're going to be a big sister."

Lexie jumped up and down, "Thank you so much mommy! When is the baby going to get here?"

"Right now it's in mommy's tummy so it grow big and strong. Now it's only this big." Sebastian explained, showing her with his hand the size of the baby.

"I'm so excited!" Lexie said as she climbed all over Sebastian.
