The sun rose high that day. It started the same any day would, the runners sprinting through the large concrete doors to the maze, finding any possible way of escape. Everyone was hard at work, being around midday, then they heard it. The noise that occurred every month, the harsh loud beeps warning the gladers that the new greenie would be arriving. The boys stopped their every motion and frantically gushed over to the hole where the box would soon arrive.
The boys all froze. The box had taken its stop as normal, but this time it contained something different.
"It's a girl" one of the boys announced, A scrawny, blonde haired male no older then 19.
Throughout the time that the glade had been populated not once had there ever been a girl. Another of the many boys, his Physique more muscular then the previous who had spoken, picked up the large metal doors to the box and pried the girl her freedom from it. However she did not move. The females body remained glued to the floor of the metal container, her eyes loosely closed as though she was in a deep sleep.
"Is she dead?" The scrawny boy spoke again.
He jumped down to the lower ground of the box and kneeled to her level. Using his index and middle finger he pressed lightly to her neck, checking if her heart still remained beating.
"Never mind" he breathed out as he arose to a hunched stand, "she's alive, just knocked out".
Motioning for the muscular boy to help him, he grabbed one of her arms, just above the elbow. The other male took hold of her the same on the other arm and hauled her up, placing her arms around their shoulders and forcing her to a loose stand. Once they had taken her across the glade to the huts where she could be monitored, the boys retrieved the supplies that had been brought up in the box with the girl and continued with their work.
The day slowly drew down to a close. The runners had returned from the depths of the maze walls, the concrete doors now shut for the evening.
"Alby! The greenies awake" one of the many males called, a slightly smaller and skinner boy, darker in skin colour with short black hair, almost so short it seemed he lacked it at all.
Alby, who had been called, was much older looking, also dark in skin colour but with a bald head and a muscular upper body. Seeing as he was a runner he was unaware of the greenies presence here in the glade. He pushed his body up from the dead tree he was sat upon and jogged lightly to the medical hut.
Afraid, the new glader that had arrived had rushed off of her bed and clambered to the other side of the hut, clutching a thin, wooden flat stick as a weapon.
Alby walked through the door and saw the scene that lie before him.
"She's a girl" he stated, almost as a question but reviving his own answer.
"Where am I? Why can't I remember anything?" The girl loudly questioned, pointing the wooden item towards the two as if it were a sword of some kind. Alby rose both hands up in surrender, gently stalking towards the girl.
"It's ok, calm, your safe here"
"That doesn't answer my question! Why am I here? Where are we?" The female once again shouted out.
The girls face suddenly became rather pale and her limbs became weak and unusable. Dropping her wooden defence tool involuntary, she fell to the floor in a heap of scared, feeble despair.
Alby ran to the girl, just in time to catch her head or else it would have harshly hit the floor.
"Jeff, tell the others it's late and they should heading to sleep, I'll take care of the girl"
Alby spoke out to the smaller boy. With the boy leaving the room Alby picked the girl up from the floor and placed her onto the bed.
"Welcome to the glade green bean"
