I looked down immediately, my heart rate slightly increasing. I wanted to be invisible, for none of them to notice I was there.
But they knew I was there, and the entire group filled empty seats around me.
My eyes stayed glued to my phone. I didn't know why I was feeling so nervous, but I was. I tried texting Kate a couple times so I would have someone to distract me from the people just mere inches away from me, but she wouldn't respond.
"I need to send some papers to the office, I'll be right back. No funny business." Mrs. Hutchinson said before leaving the classroom. My eyes went wide. She couldn't be leaving me alone with the group that beat up Johnny Richards, what if they did the same thing to me?
The second she left the room I felt a pair of eyes bore into the side of my face. I said nothing, but continued to stare at my phone screen, that was, until the voice belonging to the eyes spoke up.
"I don't think we've met before..." A deep, husky voice rumbled beside me, and upon reflex I looked up to see who the voice belonged to.
And it was none other than Aiden Cage.
His eyes twinkled as I looked at him, a sly grin spreading across his face. "Aiden." He said, extending his hand.
"Lily." I said extending mine.
His skin was a little chilly and left a tingling sensation throughout my hand. I let go and rubbed my hand on my jeans, unsure if I liked the feeling or not.
"What did you do?" He asked, gesturing to the detention room we were in.
"Homework." I said curtly, while looking away. I felt uneasy under his gaze, and had a feeling he wasn't just trying to make small talk to be friendly.
"That's it?" He chuckled, causing his group to follow suit. I said nothing and continued to look away, outside the window that was on the other side of me.
He didn't say anything after that and instead started chatting with his friends. I could still feel his gaze on me every once in a while though, and the moment that Mrs. Hutchinson came back from the office I excused myself to the washroom to get away from him and his group.
I sat on one of the toilet seats, contemplating what I should do. I could either go back to detention and suffer the next half hour next to him, or I could fake sick and leave.
The latter sounded like my best option and I began rubbing my hands vigorously over my forehead and cheeks, making them red and hot, like I had gotten a fever.
I stopped what I was doing when I heard a shuffling noise just outside of where I sat. Curious, I poked my head out of the stall and nearly choked on my own saliva when I saw resident 'it girl', Rachel Neilson, just inches away from me.
Her skin was pale, her eyes dark, and she just looked at me blankly.
I didn't know what to do, or say for that matter, so I attempted to scoot by her and back to the detention room. My plan didn't work though.
Bony fingers wrapped around my wrist and tugged me back to the stall I was formerly in. My heart rate sped up, and I looked up at Rachel confused. Had I done something wrong? Was she mad at me? Before I could figure anything out she was violently ripped away from me.
A girl that was part of Aiden's crew was the one responsible for tearing Rachel away from me. She looked at Rachel with unease before grabbing a hold of her elbow.
"She doesn't look too well..." The girl mumbled, mostly to herself. She turned her head towards me and glanced me over. "You alright?" She asked.
"Uh, yeah." I mumbled stupidly, not really knowing what was going on. I left the bathroom awkwardly, still trying to figure out what had just happened.
What was Rachel doing? She didn't look right, was she okay? I should have seen if she needed any help...
I was shoved up against the lockers, sweet smelling perfume invading my senses. I gasped as I looked at Rachel again, this time her eyes seemingly black. The girl from before came rushing down the hall, cursing to herself.
Rachel was about to attack me but I pushed her to the ground before she had a chance. I ran away, and once I was far enough I turned back around only to find Aiden and his crew surrounding Rachel, holding her back.
Not wanting to know what was going to happen next, I left out the side entrance of the school building. I fumbled around with my phone, trying to see if my dad or Kate could come pick me up, but no one answered. I sucked in a breath as I looked down the road ahead of me. It was going to take me half an hour to walk home, and I wasn't too thrilled about it.
I was halfway home when a shiny black sports car rolled up next to me. The window rolled down to reveal Aiden in all his glory, his eyes scanning over me.
"Hey, you okay?" He asked, driving alongside me as I kept walking. "I heard what happened with Rachel, she didn't do anything, did she?"
"No, I'm good." I said and increased my pace. I was still wary of Aiden and didn't want to associate with him at any cost.
"Do you need a ride?" He asked. "It's getting kinda late, I don't mind."
"No, I'm good." I said again curtly, and began walking even faster.
The car engine died down and Aiden came out, jogging up next to me. "Hey, hey." He said. "Just let me drive you home. I promise I'm a good guy, I'm just trying to help a fellow classmate that's had a shitty day."
I bit my lip and looked back to the car. Everything in my body was screaming at me to turn away and keep on walking, but just the way he looked at me, the way he charmed me, I honestly thought 'why not'?
So I got into the car.
The seats were made of leather and had a cool tobacco and mint smell to them. "So where to?" he asked, and i gave him the directions to my house.
"You know you're very trusting person, especially to a stranger." He mused, turning down my road. His comment started to make me feel uneasy. Maybe i shouldn't have gotten into the car after all...
My heart sank as he drove past my house, and i reached for the car door. "Listen I don't know what you want-"
In an instant he was pressed up next to me, eyes on my collarbone. Razor sharp teeth protruded from his mouth and i watched in horror. He was about to sink his teeth into me when he noticed the mark embedded in my neck.
Now he had a look of horror on his face.
"Are you fucking serious?" He groaned out, placing his head in is hands. "Well this definitely puts a damper on my plans." He mused, looking out the window. "It would be a shame to compel you though... In fact, I think we could have some fun instead." He commented, his smirk returning in full force.
"Hey, love, have you ever heard of Vampires?" He questioned, an evil glint in his eye. "Because you're about to have the time of your life with some."
