Valerie's POV

After lunch, the day droned on for one more class and I finished the day off strong with Jaime. When Mr. VanBuren told us to find lab partners during chemistry, me and Jaime both pointed at each other and Mr. VanBuren only sighed and facepalmed his forehead. See, we had this same teacher last year. We also had a reputation for accidents in the lab area last year. We just embraced each other while grinning childishly at Mr. VanBuren. Beside our lab table sat Vic and an Asian girl who's name I did not know.

After class, we walked out to Jaime's car laughing and stood against it waiting for Jayne to show up. We saw Jayne doing exactly what we just were with a lanky boy her age. It was cute how they contradicted each other and it made me smile.

"I thought we said no boys!" Jaime exclaimed only loud enough for the two of us to hear. I put up a hand to cease any Jaime action that was to come.

"I think I like this one. He's cute." I smiled at my sister's innocent friendship with this boy and Jaime just growled.

"Alright but I'm always watching. Im just like a brother bear. I'll always be watching."

"Well shut up Brother Bear because they're coming right over here." I laughed out as Jayne bounced up to us with the boy smiling by her side. I got a good look at him. Long dark brown hair with chocolate eyes. Two lip piercings dead in the center of his mouth. A smile on his face exposed his slightly crooked smile that actually perfected the happy vibe he gave off. He was a good kid but looking at him and into his eyes you could tell he was mischevious at times. I broke the ice. "How was it Jayne?"

"Great! This is Mike! Mike meet My sister Valerie, our good friend Jaime, and look, it's Tony!" Jayne always had a tiny child-like crush on Tony and we all always laughed about it. It was nice because Tony didn't mind and would always give her piggy back rides and such. He was a good friend but you could tell it was sometimes embarrassing to him and that was the funny part. But we all knew that crush was never going anywhere. Even Jayne knew.

Mike waved at the three of us and Tony smiled in his normal chill demeanor.

"I've had such a great day and everything's been so cool here!" Jayne was always a ray of energy and sunshine. When she was down, you certainly felt it.

"Mike!" The five of us standing there looked to see Vic Fuentes approaching us.

"Yeah Vic?"

"I can't pick you up after school today so I got Jennifer to do it. Expect her to be out in front of the school." I cringed at the sound of her name and Vic noticed. I turned a shade pinker and looked away. Vic ran his fingers through his hair and somehow I felt my heart skip a beat.

"Ugh. Okay." Mike seemed slightly irritated by this but perked up. "Vic, meet Jayne." Vic waved at Jayne who waved back. "Alright now Jayne just introduced me to her sister Valerie, and their good friends Jaime and Tony." he pointed at each of us and we all shook his hand but Jaime who dapped him up.

We all said our goodbyes and Mike left back into the building. Vic hopped into his car and Jennifer walked by Jaime's car with her flock of bitches in tote. I looked away and sighed as I turned on the radio to hear a techno beat coming through the stereo. We weren't into techno but this was catchy. Pretty soon we were all bopping our heads and making noises until me and Jayne got home.

"Bye Jaime!" we chimed simultaneously before we got out the car. Jaime waved and drove home. I opened the door to the house and went upstairs to wind down.

Damion's POV

I got home from my breakfast date with Taylor around a half hour before my sisters came home. We went out, ate, then just hung out around town. Taylor's my girlfriend of one year that I met in high school. We're in love but also sorta taking things slow.

I sighed as soon as I walked through the door. For nine years, I've been dealing with a drunk mother. I've been meaning to move out but I couldn't do that to my family. They needed me here. All of them. My drunk mother had another bottle in her hands and the label said 'Budweiser.' My expression dropped and I made my way toward her. All she did was freak out.

"Stay away! I don't want you near me!" She slurred her words and I made them out as best as I could.

"Mom, you need help." I stated the facts firmly. All she did was grip her bottle defensively and wave it around at me accusingly.

"I don't need help. I'm just fine. You need help! You're the one who still lives at home with mommy!"

"I'm only here because of mommy! Now come on, get off the floor and --" Just then the bottle shattered on my forehead and I felt the cut that was left over my eyebrow as well as the bruise that was to be there.

"MOTHER! PLEASE, STOP!" I gripped her by the arms and she tensed up in fear as I shook her. The tears welled up in her eyes again and she crumbled onto me. I softened up and carried her to her bed. I left two aspirin and a water on the dresser across her room to take when she woke up. I closed her door and left her there to cry. It felt awful being the reason she cried but it also felt awful having to deal with this. I fixed up my face and tended to my wounds before vacuuming the glass left in our carpet by the scene that just happened.

My ankles felt heavy as I walked up the stairs. When I reached my room I locked my door. Digging around in my drawer for the white slip of paper, I pulled out my phone from my pocket. I punched in the numbers and waited for an answer.

"Sunny Oaks Rehabilitation Center. How may I help you?" the cheery voice called over the line. Too bad I would have to depress her.

"Yeah, well is there any way you could come by and pick up my mother. She is a drunk and I'm really beginning to worry..."

When the phone call was done, I heard my sisters come home. I unlocked the door, as they liked to come in sometimes, laid down, and drifted into a sleep.
