"June...Julian...how did you guys get here?" I awkwardly stood at the door, Willow by my side and analyzing the pair scrutinizingly.
"Our mom dropped us off here before going to work, she doesn't want us home until she gets back." June peered over my shoulder and around the inside of my house. "Can we come in or...?"
I sighed and nodded, stepping to the side to give them space to walk in. "Yeah, I'd feel bad refusing you."
June smiled and strutted in, "I like it here, it feels very cozy." She hummed to herself as she gazed at a photo of me when I was younger that hung on the wall.
Julian appeared to feel more awkward about this situation, I didn't blame him, it was intimidating to be in someone's house for the first time. In a way if comforting him a patted his arm, "Welcome to my humble abode."
"It's cute, can we go to your room?" June linked arms with me and grinned sweetly. Willow made brief eye contact with me and shrugged, there wasn't any harm in it...maybe.
I hesitantly nodded and pulled myself out of her grip, it took a second of struggling. "It's up this way, we can do our homework or something else productive."
June made a sound of excitement, she was weird and very weirdly excited to hang out in my room with me. I couldn't help but wonder if she ever had friends outside of Julian. The likeliness was low.
I stepped into my room and gestured around, "It's cleaner than usual but it's pretty average for a teen." I shrugged and sat on my bed. "Make yourselves at home I guess."
June nodded eagerly and dropped her backpack beside mine, "I like it, it's simple but cute."
I didn't really ask her opinion bit ok, it's always nice to know. "Thanks, I guess." I sifted through my bag for any homework.
"You're very welcome!" She flopped into my bed with a laugh. "Julian! Come onto her bed, it's nice." June sounded like it was more if a demand, and no surprise when Julian did as he was told, only gingerly perching himself at the corner of the mattress.
Willow glanced at me with troubled eyes, I couldn't help but shoot her a concerned look. What was bugging her?
"Hey, June," Willow turned her eyes over to June. "I'm just curious but...how did you know this was Nina's house?"
My stomach dropped, why hadn't I thought of that!? Sometimes I worried myself with the amount of obliviousness I had in me. Eager to hear their response, since I couldn't remember telling them my address.
June looked rather calm, sitting up and staring at Willow. What was the only worrisome thing was how the smile from her face was gone.
"Are you trying to imply something? I'm not a creep." June spoke with a harsh tone.
Julian seemed to try and get smaller, flinching when he heard June. Poor guy, I couldn't help but have sympathy for him. He was like a precious child in a book that everyone couldn't help but adore. June was acting pretty rude, I would be been embarrassed too.
Willow bit her lip and tugged on her brown hair, clearly nervous. "No, I know you're not a creep or anything. I'm just wondering..."
I got the signal, it was time I stepped in. "I think there is a neighborhood booklet that hold addresses and such, don't worry Willow." My eyes danced between the two other girls.
Willow slowly nodded, staring at me with eyes full of mixed feelings. I understood, this was suspicious, I was definitely greatful for Willow being with me.
"There is actually, it also has a list of phone numbers too!" June brightened when she looked over to me.
I nodded and smiled weakly, but the wheels in my head began to spin. If there was something like that...it made sense for Watcher to have gotten my phone number so easily. Though...it was a bit of a stretch since we hadn't even been there for a month.
"I'm kinda hungry, I'm gonna go grab some snacks." Willow muttered before swiftly leaving the room.
June stared at Willow with a scowl as she left, my stomach churned with unease. She moved her steeled glare to me, where it softened a bit. "Is your cousin implying I'm stalking you? Because that's only something a disturbed person would do, someone-" She cut herself off with a strained expression, suddenly looking uncomfortable. "I...um...sorry."
I stared at her, my heartbeating faster, the wash of dread that covered me when I heard the word 'stalk' or 'stalker' was probably disable on my face. Still, I couldn't help but notice how passive aggressive she had been.
June stood up and looked conflicted, but sighed and turned to the ever so silent Julian. It was hard to remember him ever being there in all honesty. The pair stared each other in the eyes for a moment, my guess was it being a weird twin thing.
"We're gonna go." June suddenly said, picking up her backpack.
"W-wait! What about your mom?"
June pursed her lips into a narrow line, "We'll hit up the mall...or something."
"How late does your mom work exactly...?" I questioned out of general curiosity, but also, the bad feeling was still hanging out in my stomach.
"Late but we'll just head home ourselves, it's fine, come on Julian." June gestured for her twin to follow and left the room.
Julian started to jog after her but I quickly grasped his wrist to which he immediately pulled away. He did stop and stare down at me, but looked wary.
"Um, I just you know..." I stumbled over what I had actually planned to say. "Stay safe...please?"
Julian smiled softly, it was a very tiny smile, but it was there. He rubbed his sleeve covered wrist and nodded, and for a moment looked a bit flustered. It may have just been me, but he opened his mouth slightly, as if about to say something. But he held back, or remembered he couldn't...either way I grinned at him, he was honestly my favorite twin to deal with.
"You should probably go though, it doesn't seem like a good idea to leave June waiting." I nervously laughed, and he nodded again, his expression turning to one of knowing.
Then he hesitated and gestured for me to follow, I was confused, but obliged. Following him down to where June stood with a hand on her hip and an impatient look, I saw my mom talking with Willow importantly.
"There you are, you guys better not have kissed or anything like that! That'd be weird." June made a face and I felt my face heat up, Julian was really only the friend that was innocent and needed protection to me. But I wasn't going to deny he was cute.
"Don't worry June, nothing like that happened." I reassured, glancing at my mom and Willow. "It was nice having you over for the literal ten minutes..." I laughed softly, but was the only one.
"Nina, don't send them out!" My mom suddenly said as she approached me. "You're going with them!"
I paused, processing her words slowly, "Wait...what? Why!?"
