Forever Enchanted

A oneshot that I write in primary school ^^

The gnarled tree roots and prickly ferns brushed against her delicate skin as she tip-toed up the smooth, slate steps. A timeworn wooden doorcould just be seen hidden amongst the overgrown lush foliage. Inquisitive but apprehensive, she peeked through the keyhole and couldn't believe her eyes. She reached out, wrapping her slender fingers around the triangular shaped knob and ever so gently pushed............At that moment, a rusty old key fell from overhead and the door creaked slowly open to the hidden wonders of enchantment.

As the young princess stepped into the mysterious and dense umber-brown forest, the golden sunlight filtered through the canopy creating a mystical effect on the ground. The majestic trees stood as castles. Their knotted trunks reached upwards like a fortress. High above a small, squirrel scurried across the tree branches making the leaves fall and flutter to the ground below. The twisted, tawny twigs crunched under her feet as she ambled along the stony path edged with a soft pillow of jade moss. Her English rose complexion and damask cheeks accentuated her piercing blue eyes as she glanced around in astonished wonder. Where am I?

An orchestra of bluebirdssang happily before spreading their magnificent feathery wings, flying away into the clear bright blue sky. The young princess's silky blonde hair hung in tidy ringlets as her flowing green dress swept across the velvet emerald forest floor like an forest angel who fell from heaven. A sweet fragrance filled the air with a floral perfume. Cerise flowers with golden stamens waltzed in the gentle breeze inviting her to dance. The beauty of the forest comforted her with content.

In the distance, a waterfall gushed into a pool of shimmering diamonds, glittering like jewels. A startled doe stood poised for a moment in time before gracefully disappearing into the wooded forest, leaving dainty hoof tracks embedded in the forest floor.........
