JAEDEN

"Jaeden? Jaeden, honey, wake up sweetheart" Mom's soft voice spoke from the door.

"Hmm" I groaned groggily as I lay still on my bed.

"Wyatt is at the door. You should get dressed"

"What?!"

My eyes flew open.

"I'll stall him. Just get dressed and clean up a little before you greet him"

I climbed out of bed and ran my fingers through my hair. I showered last night, but my armpits smelled sweaty. Probably from nightmares again.

I threw on a navy blue T-shirt, a short sleeve pocket shirt, and black skinny jeans. I combed my hair and threw on deodorant and sprayed some cologne before looking at myself in my mirror.

Pull yourself together I thought. He's not going to care how you look or smell.

I sighed and exited my room. I made my way to the kitchen and found Wyatt standing with his hands in his pockets at the door.

"There he is" Wyatt greeted.

"H-Hey, Wyatt" I smirked as I approached him.

"So, Wyatt. Wanna tell Jaeden the plan or should I?" Mom asked him.

"What?" I questioned curiously.

"Well," he started, "I was just telling Ms. Lieberher that I'd like to hangout with you today, if that's alright. There's this place in town I wanted to show you"

His voice held truth but his eyes hinted there was more. I caught onto it, but Mom believed the words that rolled off his tongue so smoothly.

"Just make sure he's home by nine" Mom warned.

"Mom" I said embarrassed.

"I will" Wyatt grinned charmingly, and I rolled my eyes as I walked to the front door.

Wyatt trailed behind and once we stepped out, I closed the door behind me.

"Well, I smell bullshit" I announced.

"Me? A liar?" he placed his hand on his heart and gave me a sarcastically hurt look.

"Come on, I can tell there's more" I pried.

"There is" he whispered.

I eyed him curiously as he smirked and started walking. I followed him until we came to a stop at the edge of a cliff.

"This is the Quarry" he gestured. "One of my favourite places around here"

"Oh yeah, my brother Noah mentioned this earlier. He said it was nice"

"It is" he agreed. "I come here the most"

"It's beautiful"

He turned to me and smiled slyly as we stood at the edge.
