RECAP:
"I've been, umm, out of the country" lied Rosalie. She had never been capable of lying. To her surprise Katryna didn't argue with her and offered to re-introduce her to everybody.
**You can do this, Rosalie thought; it's like the first day of Kindergarten all over again. ** She walked carefully into the sunlight with Katryna leading the way towards a group of 15 kids.
JOSH'S POV
We were playing soccer, when I kicked the soccer ball too far and it rolled away. Katryna went to retrieve it over by the forbidden exit. Why is it forbidden?, I thought. I was pulled out of my concentration when I heard Katryna scream. She came back moments later with the soccer ball in her hands. But there was someone behind her, a girl with dark red hair almost a blood red color.
Rosalie. There's no way she could be there a mere 10 feet away from me. She had left me that night some many years ago, with no good-bye. Had it really been eight long and painful years ago?
"Josh."
Whoa, I think I'm hearing things. Did she just clearly speak my name?
"Rosalie, you came back," I whispered. I was glad to have my best friend (and secret love) so close to me. I had secretly been in love with this indescribable girl since.....well forever. Even after she left, my love for her never changed one bit. When I took a step forward to hug her, she immediately took a step back. She looked frightened. She looked at me once more with a 'Things will never be the same between us' look in her eyes, and ran back the way she came.
I suddenly had the urge to run after her, and make her explain what she meant by that look. So I did what anyone would do. I ran after her.
Damn she's still fast, I thought, but I'm still faster. Within a blink of an eye I had caught up to her and grabbed hold of her upper arm.
"Rosalie. My God, I can't believe you're alive. What happened to you? And why did you run away from me?" I asked not affected in the least by the run, I ran every day.
ROSALIE'S POV
Oh, this is a dream. This is all a dream and he is not standing here in front of me. Joshua, my best friend, the guy who knew everything about me. Well almost everything. He was there for me when my older sister was hit by a car. He held me in the hospital, while my parents were speaking to a doctor about Anna.
"Rosalie. My God, I can't believe you're alive. What happened to you? And why did you run away from me?" he asked, in a calm yet excited voice. He held his hand up to cup my face. Just like old times.
"Josh, I'm sorry. But things are different now" I said. He just looked at me like I was talking gibberish.
"What?! No, Rosalie nothing has changed. All these years you've been gone I kept thinking about you. I still have the necklace you made for me when we were 8. You still wear yours too. That obviously means you were thinking about me." Josh was right. Every night for the first 6 months I was kidnapped, I would cry myself to sleep wishing that I could be with Josh and my family.
"Please, stop. Josh things have changed" God why can't he just accept the fact that were not the same people we were eight years ago. The crystal clear eyes and blond hair he had as a munchkin, had turned into two beautifully mesmerizing midnight blue pools and hazelnut brown hair. He was an all around hottie, with his tight grey t-shirt over his perfectly well toned body. The whole look was topped off with a black leather jacket and a pair of light blue jeans.
♠Bet he has an eight pack under that nuisance we call a t-shirt♠
**WOAH. Who just said that? **
♠Your conscious sweetie. The itty-bitty voice in your head that tells you right from wrong.♠
**Oh. Okay then.**
"Josh. You have to promise me you'll never repeat to ANYONE what I'm about to tell you. Got it?" I said. **I hope I'm doing the right thing by telling him.** "I promise, Rosalie." Here goes nothing.
