AU where every time you fall in love, a red tally mark appears on your wrist.
Elaboration: If the love is requited, the tally mark is/turns black. If the one you love dies, the tally mark becomes a scar.

Imagine aromantics with no tally marks laughing at all the tally mark nonsense.
Imagine someone afraid of being in love suddenly getting a tally mark.
