Chapter 2: The Lone Wolf

Shelbys POV:

"That's Cory..." Sky informed me. He didn't really sound like he wanted to talk about him so I tried to think of another topic instead. After a second of thinking, I noticed something on his head...THEY WERE LION EARS!

"Why do you have lion ears?!" I questioned, not able to stop myself. Sky looked at me surprised.

"You didn't notice?" He asked me signalling for me to touch my head. I did and I felt some fur.

"Uumm d-do you have a m-mirror?" I stuttered focusing my view on Sky again. He just nodded and led me over to a dusty mirror on the wall. It looked like it had been untouched for at least a year.

"Yeah sorry its a little dusty..." He said while brushing away some of the dust on the reflective glass with his hand. When I could finally see in the mirror I saw the thing on my head. I. HAD. CAT. EARS. ON. MY. HEAD.

"WHAT HAPPENED TO ME?!" I panicked and spun around to see that I had a tail as well. Sky was trying to calm me down but it wasn't really helping much.

"SHELBY BREATH." He instructed me. I steadied my breathing and calmed down a little.

"Sorry I just freaked out a little..." I said while breathing slowly.

"Anyway you wanted to know about Cory right?" He smiled. I nodded as he continued.

Skys POV:

"So hes basically the lone wolf of this place. No friends. Never speaks to anyone. Not even the guards or me, his roommate."  I stated.

"I could try talking to him." Shelby suggested but I just stared at her. Does she really think she can get him to speak? He hasn't spoken to anyone in at least 2 years as far as I know. Well that's how long Ive been here and I ain't ever seen or heard him speak.

"You think you could get him to talk?" I asked. I wanted to see if she was serious about this. Turns out she was...

"Yup!" She grinned

"Well doesn't hurt to try!" I smiled at her again. She walked over to Cory. I am going to be really, and I mean REALLY, surprised if he actually speaks to her... Time to sit back and watch the show I guess.

Corys POV:

I heard someone walking towards me so I pivot my head around to see who it was. It was the new girl.

"Hey there!" She greeted me. She sounded so cheerful for some reason. Me being me, I didn't reply. I don't speak to anyone else so why would I speak to a new kid?

"Hello?" The girl looked at me and tilted her head. She sat down on the bed next to me.

"Soooo youre a wolf hybrid? That's cool!" She smiled at me again.

"Anyway my names Shelby! I heard yours is Cory?" Seems like Sky already told her my name so I just nodded in response.

"So youre listening! That's a start right?" Yeah... shes not giving up any time soon...

"How long have you been here for?" I just held up 5 fingers.

"5....days? months? years?"

"years..." I muttered.

"You spoke to me! Yay!" She giggled happily.

"Sooo wanna talk some more?" She leaned downwards so she could see my face (I was looking at the floor) I looked up at her and my eyes widened slightly.  

"..S-Sure..." I spoke quietly. She giggled again.

"Yay! New friends for everyone!" Friends? I've not had a single friend for at least 4 years. She continued trying to learn information.

Shelby And Cory Talking:

S: "Ok so answers time! 1: how old are you?"

C: "11.."

S: "Ok im 10. 2: How long have you been here?"

C: "5 years.."

S: "Well i obviously just got here so 3: Why don't you speak to anyone?"

C: "...."

S: "U-uhh I-Its ok if you don't wanna talk about it!"

C: "Its fine. I don't speak cause I have no friends to speak to."

S: "But doesn't Sky try to talk to you?"

C: "Sometimes."

S: "So why don't you be friends with him?"

C: "Because I think if I make friends I'm just going to lose them in another stupid experiment. Just like all my old friends."

S: "O-oh... Well we can be friends!"

C: "B-"

S: "Cory I'm a strong girl. I ain't dying in some experiment! *smiles*"

C: "O-ok then."

S: "So friends?"

C: "Friends."

Skys POV:

S-she actually did it...

"Hey Sky! Come over here!" Shelby giggled.

"Coming!" I ran over to them and Cory slightly smiled at me. I smiled back and turned my gaze to Shelby.

"So you actually did it huh?"

"Yep! Hes not bad! He just needed friends!" She smiled brightly at Cory.

"Soooo... I WANNA HEAR YOU SPEAK MISTER!" I focused on him now waiting for Cory to say something. He glanced over at Shelby and she just nodded.

"H-hey Sky..." He replied and I was wide-eyed but then smiled.

"About time I heard that!" I joked. "Hey Cory, hows it goin?"

"Pretty good!" He laughed.

I guess we cant really call him the Lone Wolf anymore.
