Song of the Chapter: Truce, twenty one pilots

No one in the living room spoke. They all stood there staring at the spot their teenage family member once stood before taking off. Pete had run out after her, trying to catch her, but she was too fast.

"God, why did I get so mad?" Brendon asked, rubbing his face with his hands and sighing. Sarah tried to calm him down. "It's not your fault, okay? You were worried that she was just giving up instead of getting help. She was scared to interrupt and thought it didn't matter. You were both wrong and judged to harshly. She'll come back. She just needs time to cool off." Brendon looked into the soft eyes of Sarah and couldn't help but believe her. She hugged him tightly and led him to a couch. Pete joined them and they all sat for awhile, just watching TV and thinking.

Meanwhile, Eva ran, faster and faster, from the house. The world started closing back in on her and she knew it was her fault. She should have called Brendon or Sarah and they wouldn't have minded coming to get her. But, she didn't want to get help. She didn't want to admit that she needed help. Eva silenced her phone, knowing soon enough people would text her and she didn't want to deal with it in that moment. She shuffled a playlist on her phone, Goner bursting through the earphones. She walked on and never related more to that song than in that instant.

Hours passed, the sun starting to fall below the city. Eva had walked far to the point that she didn't know where she was. She already didn't know the city well, so just running a random direction probably wasn't the best idea. She found a park that had a small, wooden bridge run through it. Eva sat on the rickety banister and watched the sun continue falling, leaving a blue hue to the sky. She didn't plan on doing anything, but sitting there made thinking easier. And if she fell, she wouldn't really care in all honestly.

Sarah and Brendon started to worry. Eva hadn't answered any phone calls or texts, probably ignoring them. "Bren, don't pace around. It just makes you more worried." The tall and pacing man just looked over to the people sitting around his house now. Pete texted his band members and Brendon texted his. Tyler and Josh couldn't come, they had a show. But, they didn't stop texting them for updates that just weren't coming. "I don't know what else to do. She isn't coming back on her own, Sarah. What if she got hurt or did something stupid?" They all had the thought but no one dared to say it. Pete stood up and walked over to his friend. "Please, don't think like that. She probably didn't want to constantly have her phone buzz when she was calming down and now she's just walking around." Joe and Andy looked at each other and stood up. "We'll go look for her, okay?" Brendon teared up and hugged the two musicians tightly. "Thank you." They nodded and walked out of the house.

Andy and Joe were slowly getting closer to Eva and no one else was in the right state of mind to go find her. They sent one more desperate text each in hopes of getting at least a location from her. Eva looked at her phone, thinking she was ready to deal with all the repercussions. The first texts that stood out were Joe and Andy's.

joseph: eva, please just tell us where you are. we are going out to find you. please just tell us, no one's mad.

a-man: everyone's just worried and we want to make sure you're home and safe, okay? everyone understands.

After a few seconds of thinking, she sent her location in the group chat and exited the message group. She moved on to the rest. Pete's were more about her not doing anything stupid or harmful.

petey: I know this is a lot, so please be smart. A lot of people need you.

petey: I understand needing space, so just take your time and be careful. But, please, for the love of God, don't do anything stupid.
