The ash clouds blocked out the sun, casting shadows around Mount Darkness and anywhere near it. Goldennight shivered as he knew what was coming for him, even with Manin with him, he felt like they were going to lose.

Kuldr lead the two gods and Goldennight towards the volcano, it had been dormant for a generation, but now it awakens again with ash and lava.

As they approach the angry mountain, they were greeted by four skeletons. Goldennight prepared for a fight but the skeletons did nothing but watch them. The four flew past the skeletons and landed at the crater top. Goldennight wished he was a FireWing, for the heat was unbearable.

“Welcome,” Andlat said from a cliff above the group. “You will be the first to see the destruction I will cause to this mortal world.”

“Stand down Andlat,” Kuldr demanded.

Andlat laughed. “Stand down? I believe you were trying to say; ‘I surrender’.” Beside Andlat was the three other gods that had appeared with him in the forest. Surrounding the Goldennight, Kuldr, Vanyali and Sundavr was Andlat’s skeleton army. They still had patches of scales left over, but they were decayed and thin.

Suddenly the ground shook, for a moment Goldennight thought it was the volcano erupting and panicked. He soon realised that is wasn’t natural, he looked up at the perch Andlat was standing on and saw a giant skeleton rise up from behind him. It’s eyes glowed black, it looked down at the group and roared.

“Darkstalker,” Goldennight said. “Can we just take the eruption please?”

“Oh, I found your task force as well,” Andlat said as he waved around his talon. Nightfighter, Cobra, Peacebringer, Snowflake and Acekiller appeared in front of them with a white flash. They all were confused, looking around, except Nightfighter. When he saw Darkstalker, he stared him in the eye.

“You suspect wrong Andlat,” Kuldr said. “Don’t judge a scroll by it’s holder.”

A mound of earth swirled around and formed into the shape of a dragon with solid green eyes. Beside her was a gray dragon which had her eyes focused on Andlat. A dark red dragon shimmered into sight behind Kuldr. Beside him, a blast of fire combusted and appeared a red dragon who’s membranes were made of fire.

“And this,” Goldennight said, drawing out the sword.

Andlat raised a brow, then laughed. “That old thing?” he asked. “To kill me?”

“I will avenge my brother,” Goldennight said in his metallic voice.

“Manin, what a pleasant surprise,” Andlat replied. “Too bad it won’t last.”

The gods that sided with Kulder moved to attack, the army of skeletons moved as well. Soon, the group and the army clashed. Goldennight rocketing towards Andlat.

Goldennight swung the sword at Andlat, who caught the blade with one hand. “This blade is at least a thousand years old,” Andlat said. “It became so weak in the first hundred.”

The sword started to decay, it fell to the ground as it fell to pieces. “Gods are false hope,” Andlat said. “You believe they can help you, you pray to them to help you, but you just get nothing.”

Goldennight felt his connection with Manin discapate, the copper scales started to fade. “Look around you,” the god of death said.

Goldennight turned around to see his friends and family be defeated. Peacebringer and Cobra being pinned down by Blackout. Darkstalker holding Nightfighter and Snowflake in his talons. The gods being buried under the undead dragons.

“You’ve lost, accept it,” Andlat said.

“No,” Goldennight answered. “We will be the spark that lights the fire of rebellion against your tyranny.”

“Wise words from a dragonet,” Andlat said. Goldennight felt a large amount of pain in his back and chest. He looked down to see Andlat’s talon through his chest, blood spilled everywhere.

As he started to fade from life, he heard Andlat’s words clear. “Darkness will always rein in the fear of death.”

Goldennight fell to the ground, death consuming his soul before he hit the hard cold earth.
