a/n: ok fun fact, the first quarter of this chapter has actually been in my drafts this whole time, i just never finished it. also sorry i was gonna write this earlier but i finally watched season 7 of oitnb this week (a bit late to the party i know), and im still not emotionally recovered from it :(

Lorna's POV

I can't ask Gloria to tell me where Nicky lives!! She'll be suspicious that I care so much, would she think I like this woman as a friend or something more? I don't even know the answer. Oh my life is a mess. My boss can't know that i like women for god's sake.

"Thanks for telling me"
"No problem, now don't be late again"

I get back out to the front and i toss off my apron, and grab my handbag as i follow Gloria outside, despite the long line of customers who give us dirty looks as we leave the kitchen.

"Ok, she lives on the next block over. I saw her go into the building on the opposite side of the street we're on right now, i watched from outside and she took the elevator on the left as you walk in, so she lives somewhere on one of the higher levels, the right side is the elevator for the lower half of the building only."

I start speed walking before i had a chance to thank her, but I needed to know that Nicky was ok. But, why did i care so much? Did the one night stand mean anything, or was Nicky just vulnerable and i took advantage of that?

I make it to the front of the building, and make my way to the left side elevator, as Gloria said.  I pressed the button to the elevator, but it wasn't doing anything.

"ID?"

I jumped and looked to my left, I didn't even notice that there was a man standing there.

"What?

"You need ID. I can't just let you ride up the elevator to anywhere you please."

"I'm here to visit someone. Her name is Nicky."

"You need to go buzz the tenant from the keypad right here. If they buzz back then I'll let you on the elevator. Or you could just buzz them yourself.."

"I don't know what apartment she's in."

"Go talk to Wanda over there"

I look over to the entrance, and see an older lady sitting behind a counter. She looks kind of intimidating. Hesitantly, i walk over.

"What do you want?" she asks, not even looking up from her phone.

"I need to see someone"

"Name?"

"Nicky"

"Nichols or Brown?"

"I don't know the last name"

"Fine. Male or female?"

"Female"

"Ok, Nichols. Apartment 704. Go buzz it over there."

Nicky's POV

I collapse on the couch, pondering why i even got the coffee on the way home. It isn't even good coffee. I stare at the wall, like i always do, all of a sudden i hear a buzz come from the intercom. Goddamn. I wasn't in the mood for visitors.

But it's probably Red, she always comes over on Thursdays, or at least she does when she's allowed out on her own. I reluctantly accept the buzz. I guess she gets to see me looking like this though, it'll worry her, but I'm past the point of being bothered by my appearance.

30 seconds later I hear a knock at my door. I open it, and immediately have the urge to close it again.

Lorna's POV

Nicky opens the door, and after a brief pause she tries to shut it again.

"Nicky, please let me in."

She steps aside but doesn't say anything. I walk in and immediately I'm shocked to see how messy the place is. Moving boxes are still all over the floor, clothes are tossed about, the kitchen has dirty plates everywhere, the smell wasn't pleasant either.

"Don't mind the mess. I didn't plan for visitors." she says sarcastically as she sits down on the couch and wraps a blanket around herself.

"How do you know where i live anyway?"

"My manager followed you, she was concerned and recognised you, somehow, because i was hanging out with you yesterday. Nicky you look so pale, and your eyeliner is all smudged around your eye. It looks like you were crying all night."

"Probably because I was, and no I don't wanna talk about it."

I'm taken by surprise, her tone had totally changed. She was so open last night, and now she's put up her walls again.

"Ok, well can I just sit for a little while? I want to make sure you don't do anything you'll regret."

"Like what?"

"Like... you know..."

"I won't regret it if I do. I deserve it."

She won't even look at me. But I want to be here for her. So we just sit in silence, as i grab her hand from over the blanket.

A/N: i dont even know what i'm doing with this story. I have a few ideas, stay tuned :)
