The little boy, who was four years old at the time, was named Liam Johnson. Liam was an energetic little boy who had chocolate brown hair, dark brown eyes, light skin, had a passion for music, and an interest in hockey. At age four Liam created me. My name is Jenny; Liam's imaginary friend. I have soft light brown hair, golden brown eyes, and I always wear a simple laced white dress. I was created because it was difficult for Liam to make friends. Liam and I did many things together. We made our own band when we were only five. We had fun skating and playing hockey when the lake froze over. Liam and I adored winters in our small town of Sagai because it snowed every year. We played by the lake, caught fish and other small critters, and went swimming in the summer. Liam and I were inseparable. I cherished our friendship with all my heart-even though Liam was the only one who could see me.

When Liam started kindergarten I was told to stay home. Once I heard Liam say that, I was crushed. He calmly reassured me he would come home at around three o'clock and then he left on a bus. One day Liam came home from school with another little boy. The boy, who's name was Alejandro Perez, was tall with jet black hair, brown eyes, and dark skin. Once Liam met Alejandro he started inviting him over on Saturdays and many free days. After a while I noticed I was becoming jealous. My best friend was forgetting about me. And little by little I was starting to vanish. If I faded away completely my friendship with Liam will also disappear. When I realized I would disappear I tried to get rid of Alejandro. I strived to get Liam's attention. But as time passed I continued to slowly fade away.

After two years of gradually disappearing, and failing to dispose of Liam's many friends, I finally confronted Liam. I struggled to hold in my tears as I quietly told him what was happening. I told him I was disappearing with each new friend he made. After I finished, Liam put both of his hands on my shoulders and told me I was wrong. I wasn't disappearing because of his new friends, I was disappearing because he didn't need me anymore. He was growing up, making friends, and living life to the fullest. I looked at the boy in front of me. He's growing into a nice young man. I tried to blink back tears as Liam hugged me. He told me he would cherish our friendship forever. He let go and looked back at me.

"Thank you, Jenny.", Liam gently whispered with a smile on his face.

I smiled at him as I vanished completely. My last memory was of Liam's smiling face as he forced back tears. I might have faded from Liam's sight but I know I will never fade away from his heart.
